10 shows and movies that shouldn't be getting remakes
If there’s anything we’ve learned about the entertainment industry in the past five years or so, it’s that reboots are big business. It doesn’t matter if it’s a childhood classic film or a beloved throwback sitcom. People love to watch remakes of things they’ve already seen, so Hollywood continues to produce them.
However, while there are plenty of reboots that are appropriate and timely, there are some movies and TV shows that are too perfect and shouldn’t be messed with in any form or fashion.

We’re defending 10 shows and movies that shouldn’t be remade, for the sake of our nostalgia. You can check those out below.
She’s All That
There’s currently a remake of this ’90s rom-com in the works, but the protagonist will be a man. The film titled He’s All That will follow an influencer, played by TikTok star Addison Rae, who gives a nerdy boy a makeover, played by Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan. Honestly, it just sounds like a recipe for disaster. It’s already trying to be overly relevant to young people by casting TikTok celebrities, and the original She’s All That is a masterpiece in itself.
Gossip Girl
The remake of this popular teen drama series is quite controversial given that it only ended in 2012. Because the original Gossip Girl had so many die-hard fans, they may be less inclined to give an updated version a chance. While we applaud the showrunners for trying to add diversity to a series that starred a mostly white cast, the OG Gossip Girl worked because it had all the mid-’00s quirks.
The Craft
The original ’90s film was a cult classic for Halloween lovers and creepy kids everywhere. Hence, we cannot imagine an updated version of it. The Craft’s plot is quintessentially ’90s, and after the first The Craft: Legacy trailer, we can see this taking a turn and being a cheesy reboot about witches we can’t relate to.
Pretty Little Liars
First of all, Pretty Little Liars hasn’t been off the air long enough to warrant a reboot. It stopped in 2017, so it hasn’t even been a solid five years without it on the air. Because it was such a long-running show to begin with, with two short-lived spinoffs, Ravenswood and The Perfectionists, it naturally lost its luster. Despite having Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa at the helm, a reboot will only rekindle criticism that this show is overrated.
Hannah Montana
According to Billy Ray Cyrus, a Hannah Montana spinoff prequel may be in the works, and we just want to know why. The original Disney Channel show didn’t start off on a bad foot—we grew up with Miley Cyrus on screen. While a prequel may give more information about how she took on the Hannah Montana persona in the first place, who really even cares anymore?
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
The upcoming Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air reboot is transforming into a drama this time around. While we’re excited about the prospects, if this is bad, it’ll be really bad. The original show was a classic sitcom that shaped TV, so if the reboot tanks, it could be another Full House/Fuller House situation. But hopefully Will Smith can lead this in a positive direction.
Clueless
Honestly, this remake is a joke. It’s like when they released Mean Girls 2 and nobody cared. Clueless is is one of the biggest cult-favorite movies ever, and a cheesy remake will only make us absolutely hate it.
Saved By The Bell
This Saved By The Bell remake will surround a new group of kids at Bayside High who come from various social and economic backgrounds. The premise of the show itself doesn’t sound bad—it’s the fact that it’s being dubbed as a reboot that brings it down. People loved Saved By The Bell for what it is. So they could love a show with a similar premise of the reboot all on its own, too.
Hocus Pocus
This is the most offensive remake to us. Hocus Pocus is the No. 1 Halloween movie, and it’s perfect in every single way. We don’t need new witches, new songs or new effects. Everyone involved in this project just needs to take a step back, watch the original a few times and remember that they can never top it.
Rugrats
This childhood classic will be rebooted next year. Again, we don’t see the reason for it. Rugrats was an essential show for us as children, but it seems like that moment has come and gone. An updated version just won’t work, and it’d be better if these resources were used to make an entirely new, and more relevant, show for kids nowadays.
