We've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a third SpongeBob SquarePants movie—following 2004's The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and 2015's The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water—and, today, it looks like there's finally an updated release date for the next SpongeBob installment.

As reported by Variety, the new film, now simply titled The SpongeBob Movie, has been pushed back to July 31, 2020. Initially, Paramount Pictures had an Aug. 1, 2019, release date set for the flick—but it looks like some schedule shuffling means we'll be waiting even longer for more SpongeBob!

The new SpongeBob movie was announced in 2015, with longtime creative head Paul Tibbitt set to direct and a returning voice cast of Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs).

SpongeBob isn't the only Paramount film to get a refreshed release date. Thanks to the studio's rearrangement, a new Johnny Knoxville film called Action Park was moved from March 23 to May 11, and another, unknown animated project is set for release on May 15, 2020, according to Deadline.
