Joe Exotic’s zoo is apparently haunted so they called ‘Ghost Adventures’

Is Tiger King star Joe Exotic‘s former zoo really haunted? Well, the Ghost Adventures team is on a mission to find the answer.

Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Jay Wasley and Billy Tolley are heading to the Greater Wynnewood Animal Park this Halloween.

Exotic is currently serving 22 years in prison for a murder-for-hire plot. He was convicted of hiring a hitman to kill Carole Baskin. He also has more than a dozen wildlife violations including the killings of five tigers.

Given his recent criminal activity and, well, being in jail, Exotic lost ownership of his zoo. Since then, the Greater Wynnewood Animal Park has closed permanently. However, past workers and visitors have reported some strange paranormal activity over the years.

As we learned in Netflix‘s Tiger King, the zoo has quite the history of both animal tragedy and drama. Given its past, staff says they regularly experience mysterious and unexplained paranormal activity. They are convinced these experiences are connected to the zoo’s dark history and events.

So, naturally, the Ghost Adventures crew was called to investigate. They will be taking part in a paranormal lockdown at the zoo as part of a two-hour special that arrives later this month.

Ghost Adventures‘ fearless and truly fashionable leader Zak Bagans says the investigation was “wild” and truly not what they anticipated.

“This investigation was wild from beginning to end,” Bagans says. “We went into it thinking we knew a little about this story already, but there were so many surprises at every turn. It’s a super-charged location and it felt surreal to be there. This special has all the drama, characters and twists that you would expect in any Joe Exotic story. But just when you think you’ve seen and heard it all, there’s more.”

According to a press release, Jeff and Lauren Lowe who purchased the zoo in 2016 reveal some startling facts in the upcoming episode. The owners believe that the zoo’s past haunts the grounds to this day. As well, employees believe that the spirit of Travis Maldonado is still very much present. Maldonado tragically killed himself inside of the zoo.

The Ghost Adventures episode will include exclusive interviews with zoo staff including Erik Cowie and Allen Glover. Other familiar faces from Tiger King will also be appearing in the episode.

To explore the entire zoo, Ghost Adventures is going bigger than it ever has before. Engineer Bill Chappell’s audio experiment will span the entire zoo and a forensic team with cadaver dogs will search the property for evidence of alleged buried bodies.

Travel Channel’s two-hour special Ghost Adventures: Horror at Joe Exotic Zoo premieres Thursday, Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
