Listen to Aramis Johnson of Enumclaw’s Black History Month playlist

This Black History Month, AltPress is passing the mic to some of our favorite artists so they can highlight the Black artists and Black-fronted bands they’re listening to right now.

Enumclaw are still riding high from last year’s breakout debut album, Save The Baby. But though the band hail from the same region as grunge’s genesis, their music comprises plenty of other influences. Primarily, though, their songs capture their desire to push beyond their Pacific Northwest roots and become the type of band that can make their mark on the wider culture — after all, they aren’t shy about their big plans for the future (just look at their Twitter bio).

The Tacoma quartet are bound for even greater stardom this year when they embark on their Doomerica headliner across North America, where they’ll make stops in San Francisco, Nashville, and Detroit, among other cities. Before the band hit the road, vocalist Aramis Johnson created a Black History Month playlist that shows his love for artists who possess the same tremendous drive, including Yves Tumor, Blood Orange, and Indigo De Souza.

Listen to his picks below.
