The Church of Satan praises Christian Bale for Golden Globes win

We’re officially in full swing for awards season. The 76th Golden Globes kicked it all off as the first major show of the year, and Christian Bale received some unlikely praise after his win.

The actor was up for “Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.” He won the accolade for his role as the titular character in Dick Cheney biopic Vice. He beat out Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns), Viggo Mortensen (Green Book), Robert Redford (The Old Man & the Gun) and John C. Reilly (Stan & Ollie).

Bale took to the stage to accept the award, thanking his wife, who told him “less is more” when it comes to an acceptance speech.

“Say less right now because she knows the dumb crap that can come out of my mouth at times,” he explains. “I can sink and ruin a perfectly good movie and a so-so career in one speech, so thank you for that advice, my love.”

Bale apparently didn’t take his wife’s advice, as he continued his gratitude-filled speech by tossing thanks to Satan himself.

“Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.”

While many believe this was just a joke, the Church Of Satan took it very seriously, taking to Twitter to congratulate the actor.

“To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale’s own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!”

They also settled the debate on who the best Batman is, as Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
