Cameron Boyce, Disney and 'Paradise City' star, dies at 20

Actor Cameron Boyce has died at the age of 20, according to ABC News. He was best known for his roles in Disney’s franchise the Descendants and TV series, Jessie. He had also been cast in HBO’s upcoming Mrs. Fletcher and the American Satan spin-off, Paradise City.

Disney confirmed the news early Sunday morning.

Boyce’s death was confirmed to ABC by his family Saturday night. The cause for his death was announced as a result of an “ongoing medical condition.”

“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson said on behalf of the Boyce family. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

A Disney Channel spokesperson also released a statement in regards to his passing.

“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work. He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”

Black Veil Bride’s Andy Biersack took to Twitter to share his condolences.

“Just saw the news regarding the passing of Cameron Boyce. Devastating. We worked together on a handful of days on Paradise City& I was so impressed by not only his immense talent & professionalism but even more so his pure kindness & joy. My heart is with his family& friends. RIP”


Boyce also made an appearance in Panic! At The Disco’s “That Green Gentleman” music video.

Outside of his acting career, Boyce was dedicated to philanthropy. He brought awareness to the Global Water Crisis and raised more than $30,000 for the Thirst Project.
