AC/DC climb rock charts following guitarist Malcolm Young’s death

Following the death of AC/DC's Malcolm Young, the band have found a notable resurgence on the Billboard rock charts, with six entries landing on the Hot Rock Songs chart.

The band’s “Thunderstruck” is ranking highest, Billboard reports, taking the No. 6 spot on the Hot Rock Songs chart, up 73 percent in sales and 4.1 million in streams.
Plus, the band’s “Back in Black” came in at No. 11, “You Shook Me All Night Long” came in at No. 15, “Highway to Hell” came in at No. 18, “T.N.T.” came in at No. 23 and “Hells Bells” came in at No. 24.
Not to mention, Billboard also reports that their album Back In Black is the Hard Rock Albums chart’s greatest gain—up 85 percent with 7,000 equivalent album units.
Young, the rhythm guitarist and co-founder of AC/DC, died earlier this month at the age of 64. Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme have paid tribute to the late guitarist.
Young's death on Nov. 18, after a battle with dementia, prompted a cascade of tributes to the AC/DC guitarist, including that of his bandmate Brian Johnson, the Australian rock band's lead vocalist from 1980 until 2016.
“For 32 years, we stood side-by-side on stage,” Johnson remembers of the renowned guitarist. “I am saddened by the passing of my friend Malcolm Young; I can't believe he’s gone. We had such great times on the road.”
Young was a songwriter, guitarist and performer that inspired so many from our scene, creating a legacy that will continue to live on for many years to come.
