SXSW attendees and Vans raise $20,000 for victims in less than 24 hours

A fund set up to help the victims and families of yesterday’s fatal car crash at the South By Southwest festival has already raised $20,000 in donations. The SXSW Cares Fund will help distribute all funds raised to those most affected by the tragedy through a community-based process. (You can still donate to the fund on its official page).

Additionally, All proceeds from yesterday’s sales at the Vans Village will go directly into the SXSW Cares Fund. Proceeds from the sales of all Vans Band Re-issues shoe line at Vans.com will go directly to those affected as well.

Thursday morning (around 12 a.m.), many people were in line to see rapper Tyler, The Creator’s set for the House Of Vans showcase at the Mohawk, when a suspected drunk driver being pursued by police crashed into the crowd, killing 2 and injuring 23.
