Here's why Carrie Underwood is a huge fan of MGK's new album

In a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, country superstar Carrie Underwood revealed she’s been jamming out to Machine Gun Kelly‘s pop-punk record Tickets To My Downfall a lot this year.

The reason why though is that she says she was a huge blink-182 fan in high school and thinks Travis Barker captured their energy perfectly on the collaborative effort.

In the interview, she discusses her new holiday album, My Gift, traditions around Christmas, supporting women in music and more. She also talks about her holiday playlist which had some surprising picks on it.

The playlist included some more typical choices like Keith Urban or Chris Stapleton, but also included Machine Gun Kelly, In This Moment and rapper 24kGoldn among others.

She particularly notes the track “drunk face” and explains the reason it’s caught her ear so much.

“Well, I think Travis Barker definitely kind of played so much of himself into it, and I was a huge blink-182 fan in High School,” Underwood says to Lowe. “So, you can just hear those moments that if blink was now, and I know that they’re still making music but if they just kind of started and were kind of doing their new thing right now, I feel that’s a lot what it would sound like.”

“I just kind of like the kind of recklessness of some of the lyrics and I have enjoyed that record,” Underwood continues.

As for Machine Gun Kelly, most recently he linked up with Barker and YUNGBLUD for yet another collaboration. Last week, the trio dropped “acting like that” for YUNGBLUD’s new album WEIRD!.
