An old Box Car Racer song title resurfaced, but it’s not what you think

The Easter egg that has fans talking was found in one of Box Car Racer’s classic music videos.

Back in 2002, Box Car Racer, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker‘s side project, released their first and only album. Since then, fans have been pining for more new music from the band.

Earlier this year, Barker dropped the bombshell that Box Car Racer have an unreleased song. However, fans shouldn’t hold their breath because the band don’t plan to share it anytime soon.

“There’s actually an unreleased Box Car song that we were almost going to release, but it would just be wrong to troll people and put that out in the world,” Barker said. “But, it’s incredible and probably no one will ever hear it.”

The unreleased song has been on fans’ minds since Barker’s confession back in July. So much so that one fan noticed a tiny detail they thought had to do with the mysterious track.

Reddit user @Gaflid shared a little detail in Box Car Racer’s “I Feel So” video they believed was in reference to the unreleased song. They noticed that all of the song titles from the self-titled LP are written on a wall in the video.

However, the song title “911” appears on the wall, but is not on the album. @Gaflid theorized that “911” could be the name of the unreleased Box Car Racer song.

However, other Box Car Racer fans eventually chimed in to say that “911” isn’t actually an unreleased song. For their debut LP, the band renamed the song to “Elevator.” The track is inspired by the events that happened on Sept. 11, 2001 in New York City.

“I think that song was renamed to Elevator,” @vmachiel says. “If you listen to the lyrics, Tom sings about falling from a building, and Mark sings about witnessing the fall.”

So, unfortunately, for now, fans are going to have to be patient. Hopefully, the band will decide to release the mysterious unreleased song in the future.

In the meantime, fans can hear DeLonge’s Angels & Airwaves-era vocals perform “There Is” below.
