Seeing that she's a child actor and all, we figured Taylor Momsen would spend most of her interview with AP talking about her various trips to rehab or the first time she held up a liquor store. Not quite. Instead, the surprisingly mature 14-year-old discussed her relatively normal childhood and her new show, Gossip Girl. Not a lot of people know this, but you're actually a singer as well as an actress. Who are some of your musical heroes? I don't know if I have just one person. From rock, I love the White Stripes and Garbage. They're one of my favorite bands. Then I love Evanescence. Amy Lee is unbelievable. I saw her in concert, and I was just blown away. My mouth was open the whole time. You were still really young when you finished How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Can you remember the fuss surrounding the movie at that time? Yeah, I remember some of it. Something I will never forget is that I met the Queen of England. She was at the royal premiere and I had to go through lessons on how to curtsy and present her flowers. It was a little stressful. How did your friends at school react to that stuff? They thought it was cool, but they didn't look at me in a different way. I think the parents made a bigger deal out of it than the kids. They would all be like, "Mom, it's just Taylor! Stop asking her stuff!" This fall you're starring in a new show called Gossip Girl, which is about a bunch of snobby prep school kids from Manhattan. Growing up, did you know any kids like that? Oh, yeah. I'm sure everyone has. All the drama and the gossip that goes on in the series, that actually goes on. Even in my sister's elementary school. It's kind of disgusting. Since this is the latest series from Josh Schwartz of The O.C., is there going to be a place like the Bait Shop where bands play? If not, I think you should bring it up at the next meeting. I think I might! I'm going to see Josh tomorrow, so I'll ask. I'm really excited [about the show]. It's one of those things where, if I weren't in it, I would still want to watch it anyway.
