But sometimes all it takes is a loaner guitar to transform a zero into a hero-that and falling in with a rough-and-tumble crowd of musicians, starting a band and developing a serious crush on the sister of your mentor. Just ask Koyuki Tanaka, who makes quick work of all of these and more as he befriends Ryusuke Minami, a tough-talking guitar player looking for a new band. Pretty soon Tanaka and Minami start Beck Mongolian Chop Squad, named after Minami's odd dog Beck. With the exception of thematic material in FLCL and the Lynn Minmei subplot in Robotech, BMCS will hit home for all you aspiring musicians out there.
