Also Starring: Daniel Gillies

You may recognize New Zealand-raised DANIEL GILLIES as Kirsten Dunst's love interest in Spider-Man 2, or perhaps you've seen him walking his wife, actress Rachael Leigh Cook, down the red carpet. If his face still isn't ringing any bells, be sure to catch the L.A. transplant in his first U.S. leading role opposite Elisha Cuthbert in this month's psycho-thriller, Captivity.

Tell us about your role in Captivity.
The character is this really blue-collar guy. He's somebody who basically drives vehicles from one side of the country to the other; that's his job. And he finds himself in this situation as Elisha Cuthbert's character. He's actually a captive as well and he's doing anything and everything he can to get out of this situation. It's less a psychological thriller and more like an analysis of a man and a woman in a situation. It uses the mask of the genre of horror, but it really is more about who they are or were.

How do you mentally prepare yourself to shoot torture scenes?
I ended up researching the guy that was potentially our captor because I felt it might help to get into the space a little bit better, to think about playing a character who actually knew what these guys could potentially do-then you're almost at war with your unconsciousness because I didn't want to think about what I knew.

What do you do to relieve the tension of shooting a film like this?
You drink as much as you can. [Laughs.].

When you're not busy filming, what's rocking your iPod?
I've been listening to Cold War Kids. They're so good, just so good. I just bought Razorlight's latest album; they're so tight, they scare me sometimes. I'll tell you who else is awesome, man: Devendra Banhart. His music is just so achingly beautiful. -Rachel Lux
