Madina Lake - Attics To EdenAlternative Press - Editorial Intern on 7/28/09 @ 6:28 PM - altpress.com
The attraction of Madina Lake is also their downfall-they're frustratingly impossible to label. Since the Chicago quartet's 2005 inception, they've been teetering on the brink of mega-stardom while desperately searching for their own identity; thus far, they've been unable to make the leap. So the question is, will Attics To Eden be the record that catapults them into the major leagues? Unfortunately, probably not. The band are admirably attempting to shift up a gear, to leave their emo-metal leanings by the wayside and transform into genuine artists. They've also very obviously been listening to a lot of Muse, if "Legends" is anything to go by. (If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, the English prog-sters must be as happy as pigs in shit right now.) It's not that Attics To Eden is a bad album ("Welcome To Oblivion" may be the finest song the band have recorded to date); it is just another Madina Lake album, and at this stage in their careers, that isn't enough. ='( i totally disagree...i adore this album!
Each song on this album is pretty unique, which already beats off a lot of other albums in my opinion.
I enjoyed this album, but not as much as From Them, Through Us, To You.
