Vains Of Jenna - Lit Up/Let Down Rachel Lux on 4/10/07 @ 5:25 PM
[2/5] This band's got everything-great hair, street-hardened looks, bandanas and expertly faded Jack Daniels T-shirts-Vains Of Jenna are literally perfect, except that it's not 1987, and there's absolutely nothing original about them in 2006. The first release on Bam Margera's (yes, that Bam) new label Filthy Note Music, VOJ are quite literally every Sunset Strip band from the late '80s rolled into one, just in an incredibly unremarkable way. The ironic thing is there are no big bands mining this lost Riki Rachman-era of street rock, so some folks may do backflips for this album-probably NASCAR dads and 18-year-olds who don't know any better-but as a whole, Vains Of Jenna need to find a sound that doesn't already belong to the bakers' dozen bands that nobody much listens to much anymore.
