The space between.

The Transit War - Miss Your Face

[3/5] The Transit War have more going for them then owning one of the oddest band names in recent history. But after a listen to the proximity-centric Miss Your Face, it's obvious the band's name reflects their obsession with the "what" and "where" of life. That is, songs like "Radar," "Nitetime Enemy" and "Safety In The Air" all deal with the politics of long-distance love and longing. And like an unintentional riff on Dave Matthews Band's "The Space Between," the better part of the album sets the theme of overcoming remoteness to catchy post-rock with a near-constant wall of dual vocals that's reminiscent of newcomers Désolé as well as stalwarts Taking Back Sunday. Not incredibly original, but not easily forgotten, the Transit War land right in the middle of the road. (ORANGE PEAL; orangepeal.com) Casey Lynch
