The Panic Channel - (ONe)Posted by Tim Karan on 04-Oct-06 @ 06:24 PM
[2/5] Sit back, kids; Grandpa's got a story. Way back at the end of the '80s, a band called Jane's Addiction bestrode the Earth. Yea, they rocked mightily. But time went on, and the band broke up and reunited a few more times before putting out a soggy studio album (Strays) that made their old fans weep and lie to themselves that Jane's still had it. Singer Perry Farrell is gone and now guitarist Dave Navarro-fresh from pimping Rock Star INXS-has taken center stage and changed the band name to the Panic Channel. The result: a CD without hooks, impressive guitar pyrotechnics (there was a time when Navarro's talents extended beyond fashion) or anything else, really. The only panic here is in the creators' hearts as they desperately strive to stay signed. (CAPITOL) Phil Freeman
