The Fear, The Fear, The Fear
[3.5/5]On The Fear, The Fear, The Fear, Defiance, Ohio are at their best when they insist on sounding passionate-even when a cynical lining occasionally shows through their shouts to make the world a better place. It's no easy feat to remain optimistic when there's so much to complain about; when it rains on The Fear, it pours, with a dark song sounding that much more so when played with a cello or violin. The Fear's best tracks come toward the end with "Oh, Cheri" and "Anxious And Worrying," which starts off sounding suspiciously like a Modest Mouse B-side before exploding into a folk-punk frenzy. D,OH are growing up both as a band and as individuals on their third album; while more mature, it's still a fun and fired-up call to arms for those in search of sincerity.
