Unless you're a close MySpace friend or distant relative, feel free to ignore the fact Keith Barney is the guitarist in Never Enough, since the group bear little resemblance to the mook-metal he grinded out in Eighteen Visions and Throwdown. Frankly, you can barely hear the guy on the band's debut, 1.0; any organic instrumentation that might have been recorded is buried deep underneath layers of corny retro synths and programmed percussion. Norman Matthew (ex-Lylah) lends an '80s New Romantics feel with his melodramatic vocals, but the influence doesn't redeem the album as much as explain the motivations behind it. The Tears For Fears relic "Shout" is the most memorable track by virtue of its complete assimilation of the original, while the rest is a valiant attempt at industrial rawk but is altogether homogenized.
