Under normal circumstances, it might be easy to dismiss Callous Realism as just another mix CD. However, things change when you find out the DJ behind the collection is 15 years old. Still in high school, DJ A Plus has not only won over audiences at the prestigious DMC competitions, he's also won the praise of legends like Jazzy Jay and Grand Wizard Theodore-not bad for a dude who can't even legally drive yet. On his first release, he melds a mix full of surprises. Instead of opting for obscure cuts, Realism is chock full of hits from big names like Metallica, Radiohead, Outkast, Pantera, the Beatles, Sonic Youth and even Fall Out Boy. Not exactly what you'd expect from a turntablist, but it's a ballsy move that shows his range of talents, from song selection to seamless transitions. Did I mention he's only 15?
