S.S.S.P. - For LifePosted by Laila Hanson on 22-May-08 @ 03:45 PM
[3/5]Mike DeLorenzo and Vinnie Value are veritable NYHC veterans, with resumes including Warzone, Kill Your Idols and a couple other peacefully named acts. But S.S.S.P. (short for Skinheads Still Scare People) aim to inject their fluid display of hardcore prowess with the pride and unity of Oi!. "Jimmy" could certainly ruffle some far-left feathers in the punk scene with its adamant directive to "always support your troops" wedged inside a song that otherwise seems to be vaguely critical of wartime participation. For Life also has some weird sequencing issues (a standard melodic punk instrumental opener) and a rough-and-tumble production flair, but it manages to deliver satisfying slabs of rugged, upbeat hardcore punk.
