THE STORY SO FAR: How did bands ever form without MySpace? When vocalist Tarcy Thomason's original band called it quits, he posted a bulletin looking for new collaborators and guitarist/vocalist Craig Calloway (formerly of the Flipside) promptly responded. "We meshed well from the beginning, so it was a no-brainer," says Thomason, who worked with Calloway to write the majority of their first self-released EP in a few short days in early 2008. "It just kinda flowed." The pair added guitarist/vocalist Joe Kirkland, bassist Jason Dean and drummer Joe Westbrook to the mix shortly thereafter, and hit the road.
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: The power-pop quintet landed a deal with Fearless almost by mistake when an A&R representative showed up at one of their shows at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles to scout another band on the bill. "He wasn't even there to see us," Thomason says. "Two days later, he brought us into the Fearless office. I feel like kind of an ass about it, but it worked out pretty well for us." The band's self-titled EP dropped in November and they're scheduled to go into the studio this April to record their debut full-length. "It's a little scary," Thomason says of the pressure. "But we're going to try and make the best record we possibly can." -Emily Zemler
