AP Exclusive: Annuals/Manchester Orchestra tour wrap-up

Scott Heisel on 12/3/07 @ 1:54 PM

One of the hottest tour pairings this fall is the Annuals/Manchester Orchestra co-headlining trek, and we were so excited about it that we asked Annuals to keep a diary of the experience. A wrap-up of the tour is below; you can read part one here, part two here and part three here. Enjoy!
Nov. 26th, 2007

So the tour has come to an end. A few days ago we were all a family for one last time until we made our long goodbyes and reluctantly drove off into the night. I'm not sure if Manchester left for home that night, but we surely did. It took us about 23 hours to drive from Lawrence, Kansas to Raleigh. We undertook this venture in typical Annuals fashion, stopping only for food, gas, and potty breaks...we've become rather accustomed to this method of travel. Just a year ago we thought that driving to New York (a 10 hour drive from Raleigh) was a death sentence. Nowadays, 10 hours left usually means "less than half-way to go!"

We were all excited to get home, but I must say it was really sad to have to depart from our new friends Manchester Orchestra and the New Frontiers. I would be friends with all of those guys even if we hadn't met on tour. It's nice to finally tour with a group of musicians who are closer to our age. Don't get me wrong, we've been on some really great tours with a lot of people we admire and have become our friends, but our disposition toward the other bands is usually that of reverence and sincere thanks rather than bro-love (I guess that's an Annuals term). We had a truly good time with them and are anticipating a reunion!

I'd like to take this time to give an enormous thank you to everyone who attended any of our shows and saw any of our bands (that happen to be reading this). We were genuinely surprised with the support we received from so many people across this country (and Canada). We offer you our utmost appreciation! The Never, The New Frontiers, Manchester Orchestra, Annuals = amazing tour!!!!

The State DVD postponed indefinitely

We've got bad news for fans of MTV's The State. Yes, it was announced that the music network would finally be releasing the long-awaited comedy series on DVD this fall but it looks like MTV has pulled the plug on those plans, according to Michael Showalter's blog My Old Kentucky Home. Howev, don't let that frown stew for long. We come bearing good news, too! The State will be reuniting for a sketch-comedy movie. Details are scarce but it looks like the gang's back to perform a live-action history of our great country. We're not sure what kind of props are going to be used in the film, but we're crossing our fingers and toes for $240 worth of pudding.

Arnold won't be baaaack-we hope

Yes, Warner Bros. is making yet another Terminator movie. No, as far as we can tell, the California Governator is not attached. However, after months of the rumor mill churning overtime, it has been officially confirmed by the Hollywood Insider that Christian Bale is set to star in the McG-directed film titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. No word on what role Bale will be playing but we're betting the American Psycho star will be playing something larger than Cyborg #2.
