Too hot for the Foxboro Hot Tubs?

Some are saying that songs from Foxboro Hot Tubs' 6-song EP are actually tracks Green Day have been testing out for their new album. Others insist that the band is simply frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's latest musical brain fart. Either way, go to the band's site, download the EP, take a listen and decide for yourself.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Stop Drop And Roll
2. Mother Mary
3. Ruby Room
4. Red Tide
5. Highway 1
6. She's A Saint Not A Celebrity

Straylight Run dropped by Universal

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 12/10/07 @ 12:58 PM - altpress.com

Piano-rockers Straylight Run have been dropped by Universal Republic Records--their home since last March--according to a statement by bassist Shaun Cooper. Cooper told Absolute Punk:
So I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to say about this... Today I found out we were officially dropped from Universal Republic. I can't say I'm dissappointed though.
We did everything in our power to avoid the horrible situation we were put into, but I guess that wasn't enough. I guess the label is kind of in shambles. I mean, if you feel like the man that brought you The Killers and Fall Out Boy is expendable; what the hell are we?
Whatever... most people in the "record industry" are shitheads, and don't have a clue what they're doing. That is the real resaon why records aren't selling anymore. I only know that my band is going to keep on keepin' on (as I like to say) and that we are already working on some badass new music. I feel like I want to fight for this more than ever before.
I'm sorry it has been a long while since I've checked in, but I've kind of been bummed about this stuff. I feel sort of reinvigorated now and I promise to check in more often.
If I don't check in sooner, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and new year. I'm looking foward to spending time with my family and friends on beautiful Long Island myself.
Thank you guys/gals for sticking with us. We'll keep you posted with updates ASAP.

Yours truly, Shaun

Several Blood Brothers Resurface In Past Lives

Alternative Press - Jason Pettigrew on 12/10/07 @ 12:12 PM - altpress.com

The Blood Brothers, Seattle's finest immolators of the punk blueprint, have called it a day. But spit-shine those black clouds: Former Bloods Jordan Blilie (singer), Morgan Henderson (bass/synthesizer) and Mark Gajadhar (drums) have teamed up with Shoplifting guitarist Devin Welch for a new unit called Past Lives. The band are working on songs as you read this-or not. They claim to have a MySpace page, but I'll be damned if I can find it. And if you missed it a year ago, here are the Bloods beating the hell out of the Jimmy Kimmel Live studio audience with "Teen Heat."
