AP Exclusive: From First To Last tour diary (part four)

Scott Heisel on 12/5/07 @ 1:54 PM

One of the most anticipated tours of this fall is the return of From First To Last, and we're so excited about it that we asked FFTL to keep a weekly diary of the experience. Part four is below; you can read part one here, part two here and part three here. Enjoy!
Hey, this is Derek and I have hijacked the tour diary this week. Let's see, where to begin...

Ricky kicked off Hanukkah by giving our tour manager Stuart a chocolate "Star of David" on a stick from a candy apple store at the mall in Medford, Oregon. At the same mall I walked into a store and something said, "You're a fucking idiot!" I looked over and it was a talking middle finger toy only two inches away from my face.

In other news:
  • Matt Good almost landed a 360 flip in the parking lot of the exit in Fresno. Travis and Manning have broken the world record for how many times in a week you can watch The Fugitive.

  • All of the bands on tour got together on our bus the other night to have a few beers and watch Zeitgeist, The Movie.

  • Dan from Four Year Strong gave Matt Good a drawing of bacon and eggs?!

  • The back lounge has been completely dominated by Guitar Hero 3.

  • Finally, Brandon from Vanna loves rack toms.

    -Derek Bloom
  • FFTL's current headlining tour plays Pomona, California, tonight; the remaining dates are below:

w/Four Year Strong, Pierce The Veil
    Dec 5 2007 6:30P Glasshouse Pomona, California
Dec 6 2007 7:00P Soma San Diego, California
Dec 7 2007 7:00P The Troubadour West Hollywood, California
Dec 8 2007 6:00P Golden State Hall Bakersfield, California

Valient Thorr reveal their 2008 plans as Earth Dwellers

Volcom Entertainment's thrash-metal unit Valient Thorr have announced that their follow-up to 2006's Legend Of The World will drop sometime in Summer '08. The band will begin the recording process next month with Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, High On Fire). Currently you can catch a glimpse of the Venusian rockers on their U.S. tour with Black Cobra and the Sword.

    VT's Valient Himself:
"Man, we're psyched to begin working with Jack on the new album. Not only because of his discography, but after meeting him out on the Volcom Tour, I realized he was just as big of a record obsessive as I was. Check out his meticulously detailed website, we could geek out on it for hours about hard to find badass tunes. The dude knows his sh*t back to front. This record is going to be over the top."
    Tour dates are as follows:

    12/04 Chapel Hill, NC - Local 506
    12/05 Washington, D.C. - The Black Cat
12/06 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
12/07 Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church
