Minor Threat to your tastebuds

Ian MacKaye might have a reputation for being kind of crusty, but it looks like the D.C. punker is allowing a Brooklyn-based saucier Wheelhouse Pickles to produce something called "Minor Threat Sauce."

Advertisements describe the sauce as such: "Like the Loch Ness Monster or gravity, the existence of a gentle-finishing habanero pepper sauce has scientists baffled. Made from a rare, mild breed of habaneros grown specifically for us, Minor Threat draws its inspiration from the legendary West Indies' mustard- and mango-based habanero sauces, only it mysteriously priviledges the pepper's fruitiness over its notoriously overwhelming heat. We may never fully understand Minor Threat's ability to take sandwiches, grilled meats, corn chips or eggs to the next level without annihilating your esophagous in the process, but don't let science's shortcomings get in the way of your slathering habits."

We're not sure what the sucker tastes like but according to The Gothamist, Wheelhouse higher-up Jon Orren admited that the condiment is indeed inspired by the hardcore band. The only request MacKaye had of the spread was for the packaging not parody the band's famous "Bottled Violence" image.

Cause of Hawthorne Heights' Casey Calvert's death revealed

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 12/17/07 @ 2:06 PM - altpress.com

Three weeks after his passing overnight on his band's tour bus, the office of the chief medical examiner in Washington, D.C., has released the cause of death for Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert. According to the autopsy, Calvert died due to the "acute combined effects of opiate, citalopram and clonazepam intoxication." According to MTV.com, the autopsy listed Calvert's death as accidental, though it added that it was brought on due to "substance abuse." Both citalopram (also known by the brand name Celexa) and clonazepam (also known by the brand names Klonopin and Rivotril) are prescription drugs, the former an antidepressant and the latter used to treat seizure disorders and panic attacks.

Calvert's bandmates have previously confirmed the band will go on without him, and that they will not seek a replacement.
