Weatherbox announce title for next album

Brian Shultz on 6/4/08 @ 12:55 PM

Weatherbox frontman Brian Warren has unveiled the title as well as some other information for the band's next full-length. Their sophomore LP will be called The Cosmic Drama.

It seems The Cosmic Drama will be heavily influenced by Kurt Vonnegut's The Sirens Of Titan, delving into such themes as "alien involvement in evolutionary process" and "our roles as specks on a speck in a speck" (space).

Warren did not reveal any recording or release specificities, though it's presumed the album will be out on Doghouse this year or the next. The Cosmic Drama will eventually follow up 2007's American Art.

Michelle Nolan takes hiatus from Straylight Run

Brian Shultz on 6/3/08 @ 5:07 PM

Straylight Run has lost their female voice for the time being, as co-vocalist/pianist Michelle Nolan has announced that she will "take some time off" from the band in order to work on a solo record.

The potentially temporary split is amicable, as the band noted that they are "100% behind her."

"This bond remains unbroken," they added. "Do not be surprised if you see Michelle and Straylight Run share a stage sooner than later."

It seems as though the band will carry on as a three-piece for the time being, as they will hit up a Maryland studio soon to record "a few songs" with Matt Squire and Bryan Russell. They're currently determining a label, "if any," for a release.

The band released their major label debut, The Needles The Space last year on Universal Republic prior to being dropped.
