NEW MEXICAN DISASTER SQUAD CALL IT QUITSPosted by Brian Shultz on 11-Sep-08 @ 03:50 PM
Orlando hardcore punks New Mexican Disaster Squad have announced their breakup.
The band simply stated, "After almost ten years of NMDS there seems to be no more dead horse left to kick." They also mention that their last two shows will take place at the end of October / early November: a pre-Fest show in Tampa, FL on October 29th, and following that, their actual Fest performance in Gainesville, whichever day Fest organizers place them on. Adding that "there are no hard feelings between any of us," the band have new projects up and running: Gatorface, featuring bassist Alex Goldfarb and drummer Richard Minino, and Virgins, boasting vocalist/guitarist Sam Johnson. Gatorface will release their debut EP, Sick And Stupid, this month via Paper + Plastick, while Virgins will soon release their debut, Miscarriage, via Kiss of Death. Additionally, the band says "a new project [is] in the works with a certain sadistic magician that hopefully some of you will be stoked about." During their nearly decade-long run, the band issued three full-lengths: 2002's Abrasive Repulsive Disorder (Breaker Breaker), 2003's self-titled (A-F) and 2006's Don't Believe (Jade Tree). They also released a split EP with Western Addiction in 2004 on No Idea and the Peace With Nothing EP on Kiss of Death (7") / Jade Tree (digital) last year. |
