New Winds Of Plague keyboardist announced

Seems like only yesterday we were bringing you news that Winds Of Plague keyboardist Kristen Randall had left the band. Well, it actually was yesterday. But today, the band have announced who will be replacing her: ex-Kittie guitarist Lisa Marx. Marx will join the band for their fall tour kicking off Nov. 20.

Frontman Jonathan Cooke had this to say about the personnel change and upcoming tour: ""We just completed an extremely successful Japanese tour with our brothers in Terror and made a few much needed changes within our camp upon returning home. We owe it to our dedicated fans to bring them the best show possible each and every night and the addition of Lisa Marx to our lineup is going to allow just that. We are currently holed up rehearsing intensely for the upcoming headlining fall tour and we are pulling out all the stops with this event."

Rivers Cuomo to write with Katy Perry

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed in an interview that he will be working with Katy Perry in the near future. Although it's unclear what exactly the duo will be collaborating on, it's possible that it might be for Perry's upcoming follow-up to One Of The Boys. Cuomo has been in a cooperative mood these days: A few weeks ago, word got out that Weezer had joined up with rapper Lil Wayne, members of the All-American Rejects and others for the band's upcoming album, Raditude.

Converge stream Axe To Fall, release title track video

Metallic hardcore trailblazers Converge are now streaming their entire new album, Axe To Fall, online. Check it out on their MySpace page, and prepare for maximum facial shredding.

The album hits stores on Oct. 20 via Epitaph. It is their second release for the label, following up 2006's No Heroes, and seventh studio full-length overall. The band is currently on the road supporting Dethklok, Mastodon and High On Fire; the remainder of those dates can be found here.

The Salem, Massachusetts quartet also recently released a brand new video for the record's title track, which can be viewed below:

Rise Against, AFI, Blink-182 featured on iPhone Rock Band Game

EA Games has announced that the game Rock Band will be coming to the iPhone at the ending of this month.
Music from 30 Seconds To Mars, AFI, All-American Rejects, Beastie Boys, Blink-182, Blondie, Foo Fighters, Pixies, Rise Against, Silversun Pickups, The Presidents of the United States of America, and others will be featured in this version of Rock Band.
In addition to built in tracks, songs from the likes of OK Go, Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz, Social Distortion, and various other artists will be available for purchase.

Sum 41 frontman's death rumor debunked

Altpress.com tracked down the source of the rumor that Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley had died. It all started as a joke between writer/booking manager Andrew Bucket (that's a pseudonym) and an editor for blog BrightestYoungThings. Bucket chose Whibley at random and started the rumor through the Twitter account of the club he works for--the Velvet Lounge. Within minutes, BrightestYoungThings.com had picked up the story and the rumor spread. In an interview, Bucket told us, "I did this, but that doesn't mean I thought it through. We did it with this artful intent. If his family saw that on the internet and had even a moment of terror, I would feel absolutely terrible." To read our entire interview with Bucket, go here. When reached for a statement, a representative for Whibley had no comment.

Svetlana Legetic, an editor at BrightestYoungThings.com, the D.C. website that picked up the story, says that the rumor originated with the @VLoungeREALTIME Twitter account. Legetic had this to say: "It turns out that this was intended to be some kind of a test as to how viral news of this variety go (celebrity deaths being the constant trending topic on twitter etc). We are in the process of adjusting our little mini blurb (which does call for awaiting for more details/confirmation as is) on the site to reflect that Deryck is, in fact, not dead."

Earlier today, a rumor began circulating online that Sum 41 vocalist/guitarist Deryck Whibley had died. Whibley's management, however, has confirmed that the frontman is still very much alive and that the rumor is false.

The "news" began being circulated this afternoon when a Twitter account based in Washington, D.C. claimed that Whibley had died. A local website re-tweeted the news and ran with a story that Whibley had died today in Las Vegas. It originally read: "Friends of DC music in Las Vegas have confirmed, to much much sorrow throughout our city that Deryck Whibley, who played so many early shows in DC's punk scene, has died today. He was found at 10:45am by his girlfriend Hanna Beth Merjos. details to come, we are all still reeling."

Red Light Management--who handle Sum 41--told Altpress.com that the rumor is untrue and that Whibley is "very much alive."
