New Torche video hits the Internet

Torche's new video for "Across The Shields" is now up online.

The song appears on the sludgy rock act's critically acclaimed 2008 album, Meanderthal, as well as their recently released 12"/DVD combo Healer / Across The Shields.

Hawthorne Heights discuss new record

Hawthorne Heights are getting ready with their next album, and there will be some changes to their sound. Singer J.T. Woodruff says in a new Twitter posting, "I would like to mention that there is a NEW screamer on this record, but you will have to wait and heard the record to find out who it is." Woodruff adds that the band will never replace Casey Calvert, and that there is not a new member of Hawthorne Heights.

Hawthorne Heights are currently heading to Hollywood, California to spend the next two months recording the album.

Cool Kids release free mix tape

Chicago's MC duo, The Cool Kids, are releasing a mix tape, Gone Fishing, for free download from www.coolxkids.com. A limited number of hard-copy CDs will be pressed and sold at specialty shops with the purchase of a Cool Kids t-shirt or cap. The compilation, a prelude to their upcoming LP, includes 18 brand new tracks and guest appearances by Ryan Leslie, GLC, Ludacris, Bun B, and Tennille And Jahda.

Mark Hoppus ready for new Motion City soundtrack record

Blink-182's Mark Hoppus is busy, but he's got his schedule in order. The bassist confirms that while the band has started writing new music, they stopped in order to begin rehearsing for their forthcoming summer tour. Hoppus is also keeping his time filled by producing Motion City Soundtrack's next album.

He tells Billboard.com that after producing their Commit This To Memory album, he's happy to reunite with the band. He says, "I think that Memory is a really great record. For me, it encapsulates what Motion City Soundtrack is and can do. Now they want to make a record that's along those lines but pushes it even further." He adds that he isn't ruling out the idea of Motion City joining Blink on their summer run.

The Felix Culpa release donation-optional digital EP

Progressive post-hardcore quartet the Felix Culpa have released their first new music since 2005's Thought Control EP/DVD, and lucky you, it's (legally) free. The band's So So Remission EP, available for free online here, contains three songs written and recorded when the band were still a trio in 2006. They explain:

"The EP consists of three songs; one of which has been around since just after the release of our THOUGHTCONTROL EP, while the other two are merely our own restructurings of songs we had mutually agreed to tweak in a new direction. Marky has designed a full spread of artwork to go along with the realease (cover, disc, tray, insert), and it is all included in a .pdf when you download the EP."

While the band are offering the release as a free download, they also encourage you to "tell us what you think it's worth to add it to your music collection - pay for it or don't." You can learn more about the release and download your own copy here.
