Altpress Exclusive: Christians vs. Hellmouth
Tim Karan on 5/7/09 @ 11:44 PM
A press release for the band says that an area high school student allegedly took home a flier for the show that eventually ended up in the hands of a local priest.
Guitarist Alex Awn explains: "The priest looked us up on the internet and says the first thing he sees is this priest (referring to our album cover [for Destroy Everything, Worship Nothing]) and inverted crosses and pentagrams. He tried to pressure promoter to kick us off the bill and threatened to bring a protest if we play. However the promoter has assured us that we can play totally uncensored."
When AP asked for further thoughts from the band, Awn added, "From Elvis to Black Sabbath and from N.W.A. to Spongebob SquarePants, the Catholic Church has always and will always find artistic expression to criticize and condemn. If the church chooses to picket Hellmouth shows, too, at least we're in good company. At the end of the day, Hellmouth doesn't give a fuck about anybody. Destroy Everything. Worship Nothing."
Failure Fest is an annual food drive put on "by punks, for punks."
We want to know what you think about this. Does the church have the right to protest this show? Or should Hellmouth be allowed to go on as planned? Check out the album art in question below and let us know!
I Wanna App You Like An Animal
Tim Karan on 5/7/09 @ 6:51 PM
Apple rejected an update to the app because it contained what the company deemed to be obscene content that comes from NIN's 1994 opus, The Downward Spiral. Reznor fought back, citing that the problematic content (the song "Closer,") is also sold through iTunes. Reznor said, "You can buy The Downward Fucking Spiral on iTunes, but you can't allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it. Come on Apple, think your policies through and for fuck's sake get your app approval scenario together."
The approved app is the exact same one that had been rejected.

Versa Emerge van broken into
Tim Karan on 5/7/09 @ 3:10 PM
After a great set at Bamboozle last weekend, the latest addition to the Fueled By Ramen family discovered their van broken into with thousands of dollars of valuables stolen. The band posted the following bulletin on Myspace:
Hey Guys and Gals,
So last night after an amazing day at bamboozle we parked the van by the hotel to find out this morning someone has taken a screw driver to the lock and has stolen many valuable things. As of now we are looking at $7,000.00 in missing belongings, including computers, iPods, and irreplaceable sentimental items. We usually would never do this but we need your help!
We are going to attach the link to our PayPal donation account. Donations would be greatly appreciated, and help us out in this time of panic. Anything would help and we would love you forever. Thank you all in advance and from all of us here, we love you guys.
Love, VersaEmerge.
