First reviews of new Tarantino flick in from Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, and the first reviews of Quentin Tarantino's (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) upcoming film, Inglourious Basterds, which screened there yesterday, have started trickling out. The film stars Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, BJ Novak, Samm Levine and Paul Rust as Nazi hunters in WWII France.

The film is slated to hit theaters Aug. 21.

Placebo release album details, first video

British ambient alternative trio Placebo have announced details on their upcoming album. The record will be entitled Battle For The Sun and will hit stores June 9. Check out the video for the first single, "For What It's Worth," below.

Chuck Ragan/Gaslight Anthem split announced

Side One Dummy Records have announced details on an upcoming split album, due out on July 21. Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music and Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem will be collaborating on the record entitled, Gospel Songs. It will be released on 7" vinyl and will feature the song, "Glory" from Ragan's upcoming solo album and Fallon's "Tin Pan Alley."
