Four Year Strong are covered

Alternative Press - Laila Hanson on 5/21/09 @ 2:16 PM - altpress.com

Beard-friendly pop punk act Four Year Strong are about to go on tour with Set Your Goals, but that isn't slowing them down as far as studio work. The band will be releasing an album of '90s cover songs, entitled, Explains It All. The record will hit stores on July 21 and will feature cameos from members of Gym Class Heroes, Every Time I Die and Less Than Jake. The band released the following statement:

We've always loved the 90's. Pogs, "The Sandlot", bowl cuts, "The Mighty Ducks", JNCO jeans, "Full House", Goosebumps books, Airwalks, "Home Alone", the list goes on forever. Most importantly, there was the music. It's what we grew up listening to. These songs have impacted us in some way and we want to share that feeling with you.

Max Bemis provides new details on album, tour

Alternative Press - Chris French on 5/21/09 @ 11:30 AM - altpress.com

Say Anything's frontman Max Bemis has posted new details about the group's upcoming record and tour on the band's MySpace. According to the post, the new record, Say Anything, is done and in the mixing phase, and should drop sometime this fall. Bemis also says that Say Anything will "be returning to touring sooner than you think, and in a way you've never seen or heard before." You can check out an except from the post below:

I just wanted to let you guys know we're done recording our new record, entitled Say Anything, and we're moving into the mixing phase. It should be out this fall. This record is kind of a new start, or at least a new phase in the Say Anything story. You'll be seeing some changes in our camp from the live show all the way to the lack of zoolander-esque promo shots. I'm so, so proud of what we've done and where we're going and although I'm very happy with our first two records, I think you guys will agree that this album sounds more like Say Anything then anything the band has ever recorded, as well as moving the band in a direction that is true to what you guys, our fans, really love about us.

We'll be returning to touring sooner than you think, and in a way you've never seen or heard before. More on that to come, but we can assure you once the record is out we'll be becoming true blue road warriors again. Also for those of you who like our lyrics and songwriting, I'll be going back to doing some actual fiction writing over the course of the next year, so be prepared for me to project my insecu rities and subconscious desires onto fake humans of my creation and make them do horrible things to each other!

Strike Anywhere sign to Bridge Nine, plan tour with Propagandhi

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 5/21/09 @ 10:39 AM - altpress.com

Richmond, Virgina-born political punk band Strike Anywhere have made yet another label switch in their decade-long career, this one to Boston hardcore label Bridge Nine Records. The band have previously released material on No Idea, Jade Tree and Fat Wreck Chords.

SA will begin recording their label debut, Iron Front, with producer Brian McTernan (Cave In, Engine Down) starting next week; the album is set for a September release. "There will be more of an expansion into both the melodic and heavier fast punk that are the foundations of our sound," says frontman Thomas Barnett of the new record. "The sound of the record may be a bit heavier and more noisy, a part of our darker, less optimistic side than say the folk influences and street punk jangle of Dead FM.  We have mad love for that record though, it's just time for the Iron Front and a return to roots and physicality."

After SA leave the studio, they will embark on a U.S./Canadian tour with Propagandhi; dates:

6/13 @ Champion Ship - Lemoyne PA
6/14 @ The Mad Hatter - Covington KY
