Deftones hold off release of Eros

Alternative Press - Laila Hanson on 6/24/09 @ 10:07 AM - altpress.com

With bassist Chi Cheng still recovering from his serious car crash, the hearts of the remaining members of the Deftones have been heavy. The band has decided to head back into the studio and hold off on releasing their sixth full length album, Eros. But it has "no connection" with Cheng's condition according to the band's blog.

"The decision to hold off on releasing Eros has no connection with Chi's condition or anything associated. This was, and is, purely a creative decision by the band to write, record, and deliver an amazing product. As a result we feel like this is the best record we've ever written. And although Chi is not playing bass with us, his presence is dramatically felt in our hearts and on our minds everyday when we step into that studio, and you will feel it in the music."

After weeks of no venue announcement for the DC date of Blink-182's upcoming tour, a decision has been made--and one that is likely to thrill thousands of fans at that. The organizers of the 2009 Virgin Mobile Festival have announced that Blink-182, along with Weezer, Girl Talk, Taking Back Sunday, The Hold Steady and more, will be playing at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on August 30--absolutely free of charge. Because of this, the event will be branded as the Virgin Mobile Freefest. 35,000 tickets will be given away, with first priority given to Virgin Mobile customers and previous ticket-buyers to Virgin Mobile Festivals. Further details can be read here.
