Thursday set album title, release date; tour w/Minus The Bear

New Jersey emotional post-hardcore pioneers Thursday have released the title and release date of their upcoming full-length, their second for Island Records and fourth overall. The disc, recorded by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Sleater-Kinney) has been titled A City By The Light Divided, and is the follow-up to 2003's War All The Time, which debuted at 7 on the Billboard Top 200. The disc will be released May 2; it will be preceeded by the single "Counting 5-4-3-2-1," although there is currently no word on when that song will surface.

The band's tour itinerary is quickly filling up, as well; aside from their previously announced Canadian stint on this winter's Taste Of Chaos tour and a headlining slot on this summer's Warped Tour, the band have just confirmed a two-leg headlining tour, with opening acts Minus The Bear, the Number 12 Looks Like You (first leg), mewithoutYou (second leg) and We're All Broken. The tour has been dubbed the "Shirts For A Cure Tour," in support of the charity organization of the same name. The tour will break three times: First, for South By Southwest (where both Thursday and MTB will play AP-sponsored showcases; details to come); second, to allow Minus The Bear to play Coachella; and lastly, to allow Thursday to headline the Bamboozle. The entire tour will also participate in this year's Noise Pop festival.
