For months, people have speculated over the true identity of Foxboro Hot Tubs, with many saying it is yet another alter ego of Green Day (their first being masked synth-punk group the Network). Finally, the band have come clean and admitted to MTV that they are, in fact, the same band.

"We think that the only similarity [between the two bands] is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity," said the band in an e-mail statement. "We are Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard [Mike Dirnt], Frank Edwin Wright the Third [Tre Cool] and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch [presumably Billie Joe Armstrong. We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, [and] after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings."

The band have also said they plan on touring as Foxboro Hot Tubs in support of their soon-to-be-released debut album, Stop Drop And Roll!!!. ""All things considered, either the Network or Green Day would make excellent openers for a FBHT tour," they told MTV. "Anyone know how to book a tour?"
