AP EXCLUSIVE: THE SPILL CANVAS TOUR DIARY (PART TWO)

Posted by Scott Heisel on 07-Apr-08 @ 03:04 PM

South Dakota-based rockers the Spill Canvas are currently pounding the pavement in support of their major-label debut, No, Really, I'm Fine, out now on Sire, and frontman Nick Thomas has been kind enough to document the band's road experiences for you, the Alternative Press reader. Check out part one here and part two below.
We are cutting through the towering mountains of California on our day off. Green and tan hillsides flash epic postcard scenes at every curve. It's crazy to think that some people will never get to set their sights upon these glorious things mother nature has laid before us. So, for all the cubicle dwellers, we will hope that you get your chance. Until then, we'll enjoy it for you.

The Yellowcard tour is beginning to wind down. A couple weeks left. Ending strong on the west coast, where the weather is more forgiving than the sticky south. We have been slowly switching into machine mode. When the shows become mechanical and the draining hours of travel and work no longer have an effect. It's an oddly comfortable grind. The pro's outweigh when the cold gears that keep us churning get flooded with the warm love of the fans. Addictive is a good way to put it. Imagine free therapy in a 30 minute block laced with music and a room full of supporters. We are very fortunate road soldiers. I love it.

The remainder of this year looks exciting. So many possibilities on the horizon. It's like holding fistfuls of winning lottery tickets. That blind rush of achieving what you'd always dreamed, but never thought would materialize. MtvU dates, assorted college shows, headlining in the summer. The machine is growing bigger and more powerful. It's almost like it's fashioning a heart of its own. A wild seed flourishing in a barren desert. We couldn't be happier to tend to it. Football fields of gratitude to those who make it possible for us to wear these shoes.

If you're not busy and live out west, come out to the shows. It's a good time. Get lost in some music, there's nothing better in this life. Hell, it's the very adhesive holding our galaxy together. Ask yourself--where would I be without it?
