HEAD AUTOMATICA RECORDING NEW ALBUM WITH HOWARD BENSONPosted by Scott Heisel on 06-Jan-06 @ 04:42 PM
Head Automatica, the dance-rock alter ego of Glassjaw frontman Daryl Palumbo, has entered a Los Angeles studio with producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Vendetta Red, Less Than Jake) to commence work on their second album. The disc, the follow up to 2004's Decadence, is scheduled to be released this spring."This album is more musical than anything I've ever embarked on in my life," says Palumbo. "It's very melodic -- we're drawing a lot from the Beatles-era backbeat sound, as well as the mod-revival of the late '70s. We want all the hooks to soar and all the songs to be as memorable and melodic as possible. "I'd say the album is one part the Knack, one part Cheap Trick, five parts Elvis Costello and the Attractions, one part Graham Parker, and tons of Nick Lowe melody lines," he continues. "But it's a modern take on those artists, because we are making a contemporary rock album." The band will wrap recording by the end of this month, at which point they will head out on the road with Morningwood.
