Planes Mistaken For Stars break up

Coming off the end of a rough week of breakups including Hot Cross and Reggie & the Full Effect, long running post-hardcore behemoth, Planes Mistaken For Stars have decided to call it a day. The band's members will be continuing on with other acts, however, as frontman Gared O'Donnell said:

"Chuck and Neil are still blazing a trail with Git Some and i am about halfway through writing the first Hawks and Doves record."

Planes Mistaken For Stars formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1997, and released their self titled EP in 1998 for Deep Elm Records, as well as 2000's Knife in the Marathon. In 2001, the band signed to legendary Gainesville label, No Idea Records, where they released two LP's, Fuck With Fire, and Up in Them Guts. Most recently, the band released 2006's Mercy on Abacus Recordings.

This highly influential band will truly be missed by all associated with the punk scene. Planes Mistaken For Stars are currently organizing a farewell tour, though nothing is currently set in stone.
