Call it Vagrant Squared: Chicago goth-punk trio Alkaline Trio have left Vagrant Records, who released their past three albums including 2005's Crimson, and have signed with V2 Records, home of the Blood Brothers, Sugarcult, the White Stripes and more.

"We are proud to be working with V2 and already feel very much a home on our new label," guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba told Punknews.org. "We found in V2 exactly what we were looking for: trust, friendship and the ability to continue to grow as a band. Yet, we left Vagrant Records on very amicable terms and are very thankful for all they have done for us thus far."

Bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano added, "We're super excited about our new situation. V2 has managed to surround themselves with an amazing roster that transcends genres, and breaks through indie rock stereotypes."

Drummer Derek Grant recently said on his MySpace blog that the band have begun writing for their V2 debut, with plans to enter the studio in February 2007 and release the record in "late spring." There is still no word on the reissue of the band's first album, Goddamnit, or a retrospective DVD, as Grant revealed in April.
