Yo, HeartofDarkness, I really don't care if you think I'm not contributing anything worthwhile. If I want to argue politics, I'm not going to do it on the internet. Sorry. I save that for people in my life that matter. You, my friend, do not qualify.

...Totally just kidding around.  That's very cool.  The more Jawbreaker fanatics that come here the better.  I wish they all would.  Is it the Boston area you're moving to?  I love this state something hardcore.  If there are any recommendations/random pieces of advice/directions/"Etc..." that you may need, feel free to ask.

Really?  Darn!  And you had so much to contribute (not!).

Iran has no border Israel.  Why would it have anything to fear from them?

To answer your question:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/02/18/wiran18.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/02/18/ixnewstop.html

President Cheney made it clear that the US would support an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.  That's common knowledge.  Not only that, you don't have to border Israel for them to be a threat.

quote:

Many people around the world have it worse than the Palestinians and not because of the corruption, incompitence and bigotry of there leaders.  If those groups don't resort to terrorism than the Palestinian Authority has no excuse.  The IDF mostly kills enemy soldiers.  Studies have shown that Palestinian "noncombatants" are mostly men in their late teens or early 20s, while Israeli noncombatants are often women or seniors.  It is clear who the terrorists are.

I've already provided several examples of Israeli leadership being part of terrorist acts against the Palestinians and other non-Jews.  You've just got your head too far up your butt to acknowledge what I've already said.

Here's something recent for yet ANOTHER example:

http://hrw.org/english/docs/2007/07/01/isrlpa16310_txt.htm

quote:

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is legal to occupy land if it is captured in a defensive war.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who the hell said that, and who said it was defensive?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stephen M. Schwebel, judge on the International Court of Justice.  Makes sense.  When states take part in naked agression, as Syria did by bombing Israeli towns from the Golan Heights before the Six-Day War, they must pay a price for that agression.  Just as Germany lost territory after World War II, so must states that attack Israel.  With three quarters of Syria's army at the border it's logical that Israel would want the higher ground to prevent an attack.

Gee, it sure is funny that Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights is illegal under international law, and it's not even recognized by the U.S.!

In addition, the Six Day War wasn't a defensive war, as Israel claimed which to them, legitimizes the annexation of the Golan Heights.  The IDF had attacked Syria previously in 1965 several times, in addition to illegally using land along the DMZ between Syria and Israel for settlement and farming, which lead to the hostilities that result in the 1967 Six Day War.

And BTW, Germany got all of their territory back after the Allied occupation.

quote:

Israel was a developing nation and it wasn't a dictatorship.

If Israel isn't a dictatorship, than what is it?

"ISRAEL SUCCUMBS TO DICTATORSHIP" By Prof. Paul Eidelberg, President, Foundation for Constitutional Democracy, Jerusalem

http://www.freeman.org/m_online/mar05/eidelberg2.php

quote:

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually, it's more like aparthied than racist.  And where do you get the Israeli government is like any other nation-state?  That unless you're Jewish, you're treated like crap?  And what does Yugoslavi and the Indian subcontinent have to do with it?  Why not look at the US?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aparthied was racist.  You do know what a nation-state is right?  The US isn't one.  The countries of the former Yugoslavia are.  Back when Chomsky supported the one-state solution he compared the theoretical state to Yugoslavia and Lebanon.  Both later eruped into civil war.

Well, since we're not really talking about races concerning Israel, it wouldn't be racism, now would it?  Aparthied is the action of separating or segregating groups.  Yes, it was the government of South Africa, and it did concern the separation of blacks and whites, however that aspect doesn't apply to Israel.  The Israeli practice of separating and segregating Jews and non-Jews is what I'm refering to.

Where do you get that the U.S. isn't a nation-state?  A nation-state is a political unit consisting of an autonomous state inhabited predominantly by a people sharing a common culture, history, and language.  How does the U.S. not apply?  Also, nation-state is a common political science term, which is considered to be more descriptive than saying "us" or "them".

In other words, it's a grown up word, something you don't understand, which is evident by your left field reference to Chomsky and Yugoslavia.

That's okay, I understand apathy.  It's much easier for you to give some limp noodle excuse and post some cutsie pic than for you to actually say anything worthwhile or intelligent.

Such as...

quote:

I'm so glad I haven't been here for the postings you guys are making holy sh*t. An impressive use of google all around.

Wbht5, it's called "supporting your arguement" instead of just pulling crap out of your butt like you do.  Besides, you should try it, since you have the spelling ability of a fourth grader.

quote:

Who cares what your views are. Don't be rude beause you don't agree. Is this supposed to civil?

Thanks for your little worthwhile contribution sunshine!  (NOT)

I'm not rude because I don't agree.  I have very little tolerance for people who pretend to be knowledgeable but in reality aren't.  So instead of trying to actually learn about what they're talking about, or perhaps listen to someone who has studied it for years and have a degree in it, they instead try and BS their way through it.

Political support, not military support.  Iran has been hostile to Israel before Bush announced that.

Acidently killing civilians isn't the same as terrorism.  The article doesn't contain a single bit of evidence that the "civilian" deaths are on purpose.

quote:

And BTW, Germany got all of their territory back after the Allied occupation.

So much for the power of the Israel lobby.

The IDF attacks were retaliation for Syria's attacks on Israeli civilians.  The Syrian government said, "“We will carry on operations until Israel has been eliminated” and had signed a mutual defense treaty with Egypt.

And, as any B+ student of history knows, Germany did lose terrirory after World War I and II.  Not only that, but 15 million ethnic Germans were forced to leave for Germany and up to 3 million died in the expulsion.  Germany today doesn't claim any "right of return" because it knows there is no such thing.

quote:

"ISRAEL SUCCUMBS TO DICTATORSHIP" By Prof. Paul Eidelberg, President, Foundation for Constitutional Democracy, Jerusalem

OK, now you're just getting desperate.  Do you even read the links anymore?  Eidelberg is a right-wing psycho who was mad at Sharon for withdrawing from the Gaza Strip.  He calls Israel "a democratically elected dictatorship", whatever the hell that means.  Most Israelis supported the disengagement.

quote:

Aparthied is the action of separating or segregating groups

Groups of different races.

quote:

Where do you get that the U.S. isn't a nation-state?  A nation-state is a political unit consisting of an autonomous state inhabited predominantly by a people sharing a common culture, history, and language.

Americans don't have a similar culture or language.  Millions of Americans are native Spanish speakers and we have many different cultures.

Forcing Israel and the Palestinian Authority together would be as stupid as forcing Pakistan and India together or Bosnia and Serbia together.  Milosevic's worse atrocities would pale in comparison to what would happen to Israelis.

Cooler than Freddie Jackson sippin' a milkshake in a snowstorm.

I am a consertive. In response to marcus's first post in this thread with, "quite bitching", I find that funny considering the fact that most liberals are the ones who complain. They generally put there hearts before there brains in an effort to make everything better, which has never happened or never will happen. In my opinion liberals will cook up lies, compliants, or there next choice, phony propaganda eg. Global Warming, techniques to raise money so that thier non-intellegent party can rise to the top.

I believe that Conseratives are a bunch of rich ass-holes. They only care about money and Religion  (if this country's government is Religion free then how come we can't give gays their rights) . While non-conseratives tend to care about the well being of the people. Which sounds better? My opinion it would be the non-conseratives, but my opinion doesn't matter because I can't vote anyways.

Your opinion still matters.  I think maybe you should find out some more information on the topic, but that doesn't make your opinion not matter either.

Because I just can't shake this feeling that I'm nothing in your eyes.

I just read most of this entire thread. I skipped a large portion of the arguments regarding the Israeli/US/Palestine discussion. Sorry. To be completely honest, it's really late right now, and my eyes were beginning to hurt. I do have to say that a portion of these posts reminded me just how much I hate it when an entire group of people is judged by an extreme minority. I'm Catholic, but you won't see me bombing an abortion clinic.

Anyways, I consider myself, politically, a hardcore  moderate. Hardcore meaning I'm very proud of it.

P.s. Sorry if I resurrected a dead thread. It was a pretty interesting read though.

When I put 'other' as my music of choice, I was being serious.

I like how when someone says something you liberals disagree with instead of attacking their views you attack their spelling. It's okay don't try and say their views are wrong just take the easy way and attack their spelling and grammer.

Wuah. What you give is what you get. You can only get respect if you give it.
Yet another thing you should have learned being a soldier. How an active duty soldier doesn't get it is beyond me. And I'm national guard.

I never said they shouldn't be condesending I just was making the point that they should not call me on it when they are the same fair enough right? And i figured you were national guard since you didn't get it.
