I saw this on another board and thought it might be fun to bring here.  Post qualities in a significant other that you couldn't deal with in a relationship.

I'll start:

The two serious business ones are cheating and beating.  Other than that, I really don't think I could be with someone who is ultra politically conservative or religious.  Heck, I don't think they could deal with me!

Also:  NO cheap tippers or being rude to waitstaff/cashiers/etc.  No No No.  Thirteen years working retail has had its effects on me.

There might be more, but I gotta run and meet a pretty lady.    Your turn!

so here's the final scene, when i finally come clean:

i've watched you for years, YEARS

and here's my favorite part: where you beg for my heart

and i disappear

The ultra religious thing was almost a dealbreaker for me & my husband... back when we first started dating he was very, very religious & I was far from that.  I hadn't really given much thought to WHAT my beliefs were at that point, but I knew Christianity wasn't my thing.

Our very first fight & a fight that we almost broke up because was about homosexuality.

Thankfully over the years he's done a 180 when it comes to religion.  Hell, now he doesn't even care about what we do in terms of Violet's "religious education" anymore.

The other thing that would absolutely KILL it for me is possessiveness & jealousy.  I'm a pretty independent kind of person and can't stand someone trying to tell me what to do.

i’m not leaving joy for the bookends of life
so i’m renouncing my age and i’m going on strike

Cheating
Putting stupid things like video games first (why we broke up that one time)
Animal Abuse
Being rude to your parents. Hell, I'm not even rude to MY parents and they treat me like sh*t.

Brothers and sisters know anytime or late at night....

Along with some of the aforementioned dealbreakers:

Pathologically lying
Manipulative
Excessive jealousy

You left a lovestain on my heart,
and you left a bloodstain on the ground,
but blood comes off easily.

Well cheating is a given, as well as the beating thing.

possessiveness & jealousy.

This was Dan a year ago. He even had the balls to tell me not to hang out with my guy friends. I gave him the ultimatum of sucking it up or taking a f*cking hike. The possesiveness has gone away, but he's still a titch jealous. He really has nothing to worry about though. Silly boy.

Other deal breakers: drug abuse, excessive alcohol abuse, recent criminal record, ICP fans.
Yep...I went there.

PS,
quote:

Pathologically lying
Manipulative

These are what landed me in therapy. I swear to God, ladies, do not EVER let a guy f*ck with your head. Chop his balls off before he gets to it.

I have quite a few of these, and most of them have to do with my religious convictions. I won't waste time by posting every single one of those, but here are major ones that are pretty common, I would think:

- Cheating sexually (mostly during marriage, because frankly I think I'd be mature enough to talk through and work around not marrying a virgin)

- Drug and alcohol abuse

- Hygienically unsound

- No sense of humor

- Extra-crazy PMS, like the kind that women are just now finding out could be a medical disorder

Being a controlling, insensitive, jealous, pushy bastard is a major turn-
off.

Also, guys that are way way into sports like football piss me off.

I also say no to cheatin', beatin' and whinin'.

Being down all the time is really f*cking annoying. I know that one is
shallow of me, but I'm trying to be a balanced person... ups, downs,
and all. People who are negative ALL the time and never positive, who
can't see any positive in anything ever ever ever, realllllly piss me off.

Being a total druggie is also really annoying.

And juggalos better step off. Haha.

Ragazzi… che roba! STUPENDA. Testo e musica legano perfettamente. Creep da oggi non esiste più… C’E’ SOLO AD OGNI COSTO. Ormai è già sua.

Anyone? Annnyone?

(Sorry, I had to because that's all I could think of at first glance!)

Aaaanyway, here's some of mine:

-making any disparaging comments about homosexuality or those that are homosexual
-making fun of: my faith, my dreams, my desire to help people (oh yeah, it's happened before)
-physical violence, verbal violence
-lying
-jealousy
-awful music taste & the refusal to broaden your horizons
-no manners (don't even ask me how I feel about proper handshakes)
-poor hygiene
-lack of goals/aspirations
-excessive use of improper grammar and/or misspelling words you've already knowingly corrected in the past (kind of shallow, but it's really true)

The truth never set me free.
So I'll do it myself.

- Obv. Infidelity/abuse
- Never, ever, ever wanting to have kids.  Sorry.  I am selfish and want to raise some.  I know it's gonna take some creativity but it's gonna happen.
- Going into a relationship with the intention of fitting me into a mold.  There's a huge difference between growing, changing, and destroying a person.
- Unwillingness to be spontaneous when the time feels right.  I don't need or want a life of constant change, but variety is the nice spice.
- Women.  Being damned near exclusively into dudes and falling for a girl makes things very, very difficult.  I have dealt with this before and it sucks beyond belief for both parties. :\

I have seen too much.

I haven't seen enough.

It sounds shallow and ignorant, but honestly if I meet girl my age and she has a kid, I make a note not to get emotionally involved with her.

At that point, I risk getting attached to her kid too, and if the relationship goes south, I would not only have to lose her affection but be cut off from her child, as well. I don't think I could handle that.

I mean, I have female friends that have kids, I could just never see myself being in a relationship with them.

I swear...I swear I'll find you
I'll keep on searching, searching till the end of time.
And if I can't survive without you by my side,
then wait for me, wait for me,
Wait on the other side... I'll be there.

In addition to basically everything that was already said (particularly being too politically extreme and homophobic), not having a plan for your life is on my list. There are certain ways around this, but if your plans are to work in fast food for the rest of your life, it probably isn't going to work out.
Also, being too shy.

Need medication, more medication.

We need a different word for "homophobic". I'm certainly not afraid of any limp-wristers.

This.

I honestly believe I am not yet mature enough to be in
a relationship with someone my age who already has a
kid.

Girls who are too loud and overbearing. Rudeness.

Sh*t music taste. I won't go on.

I've been up for days, trying to find a way to write this confession down

Seems every line I writes a mess,
at least this I'll admit
