Since we have fashion and health threads why not not one for beauty sh*t? I know there's quite a few gals that are really into make-up and stuff here. Making the thread because right now I'm sitting on my couch with caca in my hair....yes....caca. http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/hair/henna-hair-dyes That's what they named their henna hair dyes. I'm trying out dying my hair with henna. It's supposed to be a lot better for your hair since it doesn't have a sh*t ton of chemicals. And you can dye it as often as you want. I could do it every day if I wanted to. I was told the color change is really subtle, and it is supposed to enhance your hair color, but if you keep doing it, you can get it darker, which is what I intend to do. I was reading reviews of the Noir and there's some people who had raven black hair that had a reddish sheen in the sunlight. WANT. So we're giving this a try. The other thing about henna is it's a time consuming process. You have to keep it in your hair for at least 6 hours. And it's got a faint, weird smell to it. But if it means I can color my hair without damaging it, and it makes my hair healthier, shinier, less frizzy, etc, I think that's worth it. I was also told it'd probably be good for someone with hair like mine that doesn't keep dye all that well since I can maintain it. And if you clicked the link, that's Lush. There's a store here in Philly and I LOVE it. I use their shampoos and soaps too.

I don't do a lot in the hair/makeup department... just eyeliner. and sometimes I straighten my hair and put on lip gloss. that's really the extent of it, unless I'm getting myself dolled up for an important occasion.

I've always wanted to dye my hair, but I never thought I'd keep up with it and I didn't want to damage it. As far as make-up goes, Cover Girl Eyelights and Maybelline Stiletto mascara are my absolute favorites.
Time may change a lot, but some things stay the same.

I gave myself a hair cut.......... Now I have no hair...... ......again. I used to wear mascara.......and smear it down from my eyes, but that was a long time ago.

I only wear mascara and sometimes eyeshadow, but only if it's some sort of earth tone. I don't use any sort of coverup because that would mean covering up my freckles. I love my freckles.
when you wear lipstick I always want to kiss you but you use your lipstick as an excuse not to kiss me

This is what my sister does now and quite frankly, she looks horrible when she does it. She's just too punk rawk to care... Do not wear make-up. The only thing I do with my face is wash it with Noxema. And this...
...is totally worth $130.

I shaved last night. And not my face. I can now run faster, roughly 4.5 seconds less in the mile.

It's surprising my hair hasn't fallen out with all the stuff I've done to it. I haven't seen my natural brunette color since early 5th grade. I've been a blonde and a red head. I've had black, red, orange, yellow, blue and purple hair. I've had coon tails, tips, angel heads, leopard print. Short hair, long hair, angled hair. I just re-darkened my hair to a deep reddish/maroon. My mom wants it a semi-normal color for graduation. I'm gonna take a break from dying it over the summer, let it grow out a few inches until it's at about my shoulders and die it a brighter red or a purple. I always ALWAYS use Special Effects. It started with Manic Panic, which sucks, then Beyond the Zone which is so-so. Also, I use that new Root Awakening shampoo and it's the fucking bomb. It's made my hair so soft and it's a lot stronger. (I straighten it everyday and dye it so much it weakened.) As for makeup, unless I feel like spending an extra 15 minutes on my eyes, I just use wet n wild eyeliner and Maybeline(I think) Colossal masccara. And for face washes it's always Nutrogena or Biore. Damn that was long, I could go on about dying hair.
 We're not working out.

^ Kind of funny that you mentioned Special Effects hair dye, 'cause I used the Naplam Orange dye the other night and this was the result at first:
This morning though I added extra dye to the spots that were still blonde and then shampooed the parts that were overdyed. Now it's mostly even and bright and looks awesome. So I'm guessing it's a good thing that I didn't go with Manic Panic then?

The only thing I do is wash and condition my hair (with Tresume, if that's how you even spell it) and moisturize my face. I don't do anything special with them unless I have to for some special occasion. For one thing, I'm too lazy to do anything special with my looks and for another thing, I don't really know what I would do. I don't really like my face as it is but I don't really think make up could help it much, ha ha. I'm so plain :/

^^^ I'm stupid too then. I really suck when it comes to buying make up, I always want to try out new things but I'm so self-critical, I never know if it looks okay. I usually just stick to basic cover up, and that Wet 'n' Wild (Mary mentioned it) eyeliner, and the occasional mascara. Also, I don't know how many times I've tried to get that 'smokey eye' type of thing. I fail when it comes to make-up.

I've learnt a lot off of the different make up artists I've interviewed, but I have allergies so anything not make by Clinique, M.A.C or Benefit is basically out for me!

^ Question: What's the difference between that one, and this kind (this is the one I use).
(I really fail to see the difference between products unless it's pointed out to me.)

YES. The problem with it is that it has great shades and everyone of them comes out so bright. But a day or two later it's a shitty faded color. So unless your willing to re-dye it at the end of the week.

The two things that are different in terms of mascaras are 1) the formulas 2) The brushes. I don't know much about formulas but the basic differences that would matter to you are if it's clumpy or not, if it smudges or not, if it gets everywhere, etc.
The brush is super important. That brush is a traditional bottle-brush type, like the one on the left. Lash stiletto is like the one right in the middle. Lashmaxxx is sort of like the one third to the right. Rimmel has another kind a lot like the one all the way on the right that works really well. Plastic brushes allow for more definition between the lashes, and combs do too. Lash Stiletto uses a spiky plastic brush to make the lashes appear really long and separate them so they don't clump. Plus the formula lasts for a long time and doesn't get all over my face.
I really want to try this but I've heard the formula sucks. How many hangings tonight under the red moon?

^ I assume the one 2nd from last on the right is going to make the lashes really clumpy, right? I like the way this Lash Stiletto thing sounds. I have a hard time with the brush I have now. I think I'll try to find it in stores and purchase it, if it's not too expensive. Thanks for the mascara lesson

^ I highly recommend Maybelline Stiletto as well. I just bought it last week because I saw the commercial for it. Although it doesn't make my lashes as extreme as the commercial, it certainly makes them longer. I love it.

Ditto. Well, actually I do wear a bit of powder to set my blush & give me a bit of color because I'm very paste-y, but I never, ever wear foundation. Correction, I did when I was performing because of the way the lights wash you out & the distance. When it comes to make-up though, I think EVERY girl should wear it -- at least the basics. It doesn't change your natural beauty, it just highlights all the good stuff. Even now that I have a kid & don't do my hair or get dressed most days, I still put on at least blush, eyeliner & powder. It makes me look like a chick again instead of an old man. The two weeks I couldn't wear ANY make-up on my eyes after having lasik done were the worst. I refused to leave the house. Hell, when my water broke & I went into labor at 2 a.m., I still put on make-up before I left for the hospital. I had to sit on two towels so I wouldn't ruin the couch & pause for contractions but I still got make-up on. And seriously, aside from the hospital gown & kid in my arms, you wouldn't be able to tell I just had a kid.
