I know 2009 still has the new year smell, but it is never too early to start talking about awesome releases...

I am very much enjoying these jams:

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Andrew Bird - Noble Beast
Crippled Black Phoenix - The Resurrectionists
P.O.S. - Never Better

What are you enjoying so far this year?

I actually have a "best albums of 09" list going right now, because I really want to stay on top of music this year. I figure every time a record comes out I'll listen, give it a rough place on the list, and adjust it the more I get into them.

Sooo, I won't copy/paste the list, but I've been rocking:
William Elliot Whitmore
Andrew Bird
O Pioneers!!!
POS
and Fake Problems, among others.

And I can't believe I forgot about the CBP releases. See, this is why I need an ongoing list.

I keep a text file of all the releases I come across over the year so I don't miss things.

I actually made a numbered list on lunch today of my top 10, which I will post tomorrow if I remember.  I usually keep things that aren't "released" off it, but I know they will be out eventually (CBP, WEW) so they are there.

The new Appleseed Cast disc bombed.  I am severely disappointed.

The new William Elliott Whitmore and Lilly Allen albums great as expected.

Silently, I wish to sail into your port.

How's the new Matt & Kim??  In comparison to their 1st release.

I've got some $$ left on an Amazon GC and I'm thinking about using it for Matt & Kim.

^^ If you liked their S/T, you'll like this. I haven't listened through the whole thing, but I enjoyed what I heard.

My list includes things peopel have already said:
- William Elliott Whitmore
- NFG
- Two Tongue
- I do enjoy Incredibad, but I agree with Scott on the whole staying power of it.

Also, I would be interested in checking out new Franz Ferdinand. Anyone who's got it wanna be my best friend?

I've been slacking on new music this year big time. I have all of it in my posession, I just haven't gone out of my way to listen to any of it yet and I'm not sure why.

*shrug*

sabotage was the plan.

I am not listening to this until my copy arrives in the mail, but I have already accepted the fact that it will be very hard to top as my #1 based on the one song Mono put out there for download.

I can be your best friend when I get home around 9 o'clock, unless someone hooks you up before then.
