THE STORY SO FAR: While on tour with Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster last November somewhere in Florida, the members of Attack Attack! stopped at a Hot Topic on the release day of their first album, Someday Came Suddenly. "We were pretty stoked," says drummer Andrew Wetzel. Considering that the screamo band had come together only a year earlier-and just days before Someday dropped (and in the middle of their tour), they fired their original vocalist due to personal reasons, Attack Attack! (along with new screamer Nick Barham) needed the positivity. "We took pictures of our CD and sent them to our parents."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: Attack Attack! don't ease their way into the ears of their listeners-they beat their way in. "Hot Grills And High Tops" hits nasty trancecore synths while songs like "Stick Stickly" plunge into the depths of the darkest post-hardcore. If it sounds like an odd mish-mash, there's a reason: The group decided to throw metal, pop-punk and electronic music together in a sound fitting of their moniker. "We all couldn't decide on one style of music to write," says Wentzel. "And none of us really wanted to do that anyway."-Kelly Delaney
