Changing frontmen after you've established your band is a delicate art--and nothing new for our scene. Just look at Underoath and Escape The Fate. (We won't even get into the revolving door of members that Taking Back Sunday have seen.) But earlier this week,
Chiodos--who just wrapped up playing the main stage of Warped Tour all summer--announced that they've
kicked vocalist Craig Owens out of the band. To some, it's a change that's been a long time coming. To others, Owens
is Chiodos. We wanna know what you think.
What will happen to Chiodos now? Will you care? Or do you think that Chiodos is wherever Owens goes? Comment below and tell us!

basically, shitty. i normally don't say this about bands, but craig was chiodos. the other dudes are gnarly musicians but craig took it to a whole other level.
Probably lose a lot of fans because it's going to be very difficult to find someone to fill the shoes of Craig.
They are gonna fall apart. big time. They lost so many fans. Craig Owens was really Chiodos. It hurt to know he got kicked out. Hopefully everyone agrees, that he's gonna find a better place.
i'm not a huge fan of Chiodos, but it seems that when people (including me) hear "Chiodos", the next thing that comes to mind is "Craig Owens". Escape The Fate managed without Ronnie, but Ronnie wasn't considered ETF as much as Craig was Chiodos. They'll put out one album, no one will buy it, and they'll break up.
Same thing that happened to Saosin when Anthony Green left. Chiodos is gonna suck like Saosin does now, but I think Craig Owens will be continually successful like Anthony is.

personally, i think they should break up because craig was "chiodos". his voice made the band what they are today. All of there fans are probably going to start listing to Cinematic sunrise because its craig side project. They should just let craig back in and keep on making music.

I think they are just going to be another band. They aren't going to have anything special about them anymore, since owens has such a unique voice. you know, anyone can learn a riff on a guitar or a beat on drums, but you can't replace a voice like craig's. i think it was a bad idea. but i will still support them, unless they give me a reason not to.
I'm honestly a little scared. On one hand they'll still be a very interesting band in the scene. But without Craigs vocals who knows. One can't deny that Craig was a major asset to the band. I hope that they can continue to make great music. But I know it just won't be the same without Craig.
Craig was the essence of Chiodos. Craig brought his signature voice, that energy to the crowd, and...he was Craig Owens! How could Chiodos ever be the same without Craig?
Once Chiodos finds a new singer, it's basically going to be the "Craig Mabbitt vs. Ronnie Radke" debate all over again. Except this argument will be completely pointless because everyone knows that Craig Owens WAS Chiodos.
I hated craig owens, but once i saw him live in Cinematic Sunrise, i became a fan. Every other project he's in is better than Chiodos, Chiodos is like every other post hardcore, screamo band out there. They did Craig a favor, but saying chiodos is nothing without craig is kind of cruel, i mean... without the band members, he'd have no music to sing over, i kind of contradicted myself, but whatever, just an opinion. Cinematic Sunrise > Chiodos (always) Isles and Glaciers > Chiodos If you want your high pitch screamo fix, there's many to fill that.
you guys need see that A BAND IS ABOUT 2 OR MORE PEOPLE NO JUST THE VOICE! i mean i love craig voice but he just have more that 3 proyects! chiodos kicked out chiodos. craig will be fine, chiodos on the other hand won't be. everyone associated the two with each other. i think they'll realize they made a huge mistake and want craig back.
Here's the thing one needs to consider. Craig had a large hand and played a large part in what makes Chiodos, Chiodos. With his vocal stylings AND his lyrics. Honestly it will be hard for some of us to see someone else sing Craig's words. It's kind of how I felt about seeing Cove sing Anthony's songs in regards to Saosin. Didn't like it. Craig has proven he is fine on his own though and the other fellows are great musicians and honestly I think it's best for them to move on, play music together but under a different moniker. I started feeling Chiodos drifting apart after Frosty's departure to be honest. At the end of it all. Craig isn't Chiodos but a big part of him made the band what it was
I'm not saying Craig Owens was Chiodos, but usually when I think of Chiodos, and what I love about them, his vocals come to mind first. I love the other members of the band, but what made Chiodos stand out and made them special to me was Craig's vocals. His vocals took the music to a whole new level for me, and that's what makes this upsetting for me.
Vocally, Chiodos will never be the same. Craig had an amazing voice that made Chiodos unique. On the other hand, I think the Craig had WAY too many side-project bands that he wasn't concentrating all his time on Chiodos, like the rest of the band.Chiodos is me favorite band, and I don't think they're going to be able to find someone good enough to replace what they once had. Hopefully, they can though since they are my favorite band.
Chiodos is nothing without Craig. Its a blessing in disguise. Craig has way more to offer the world. Another mountain for him, another creative time to produce great music to share.
i don't think they're original fan base will follow them. they'll pretty much be starting from scratch for the mere fact that they won't explain why they kicked him out. i think that's what upsets me and others i know the most. even if they get someone that is anywhere close to craig vocally, they'll never be the same. i say change the name and the sound so that way no one is disappointed. a fresh start is what they need, not a continuation without craig. they're gonna crash and burn if they try to go ahead with chiodos as is.

Craigs voice is one you have to get used to at first you think he sounds like a girl and is bad but then you just cant stop listening hes addicting the way he doesn't care and the way his voice sounds with his lyrics make the songs what they are. I cant ever imagin listening to someone else sing those songs besides Craig knowing what they mean to him and what he was going through when he wrote them then someone else coming a long and singing the song that means nothing to them.....I just can't imagine. Escape the Fate has a whole list of songs they refuse to sing because of what they ment to ronnie so is that gonna be Chiodos now to?? Craig will be fine he has alot of people that support him
Craig has such a unique voice. It will be really hard to replace him, but there are really talented people out there. I can't say for sure whether I'll continue listening to chiodos until I hear what their new singer has to offer. Craig is *not* chiodos. what the band members did musically is what made chiodos different from his side projects. I think they can do great things, but we'll just have to see.
its seem that all craig wanted was for everyone to think chiodo was just him cuz he took control over everything when really he didnt even bring tthe best part to chiodos. i know jason, matt, pat n brad will go on n do amazing things cuz they are super talented and i think craig will go on doing whatever. and in the end if craig gets his shit together n things work back out then who knows. but i look at chiodos now n say the only person missing is derrek,cuz he was a key in that band.but chiodos without craigery owen...is be amazing..cuz there no strings attach now
For me, this is just like when Saosin lost Anthony...I'll only listen to Saosin that includes Anthony Green, everything else isn't on the same level of genius. Chiodos and I have officially broken up from this point on. I LOVE YOU CRAIG. <3
I'm not surprised that Craig is gone. I can only assume that things have been crazy with the million other projects Craig has been doing, so it has to be hard for the other members to wait around for Craig to have time to make music with them again. I love Chiodos and it's Craig's charisma on stage that made me a fan, but it makes since for them to part ways. After losing Craig and Derrick the remaining members should just change their name and form a new band. There is no reason for them to keep calling themselves Chiodos. With the changes they are going to be a new band with a new sound.
Craig Owens is such a defining part of chiodos. Vocally, lyrically, and creatively there is no one like him. I am a huge chiodos fan (more than most would consider healthy) and I'm still looking forward to new material, but it won't be the same. Craig Owens is one of the most brilliant musicians in the scene today and will continue to be, but Chiodos will probably fall by the wayside in many people's hearts and minds. However, I'm confident that the rest of Chiodos, who are amazing musicians as well, will continue to make good music. The question is... will it be good enough?
Chiodos has been my all time favorite band, they are all awesome musicians and I'm sad to agree with a lot of people that the band just wont be the same and will suck without Craig. Sure there are others out their with a voice similar but c'mon who can fill that spot? I'll still listen to them for sure but it won't be the same. I'm sure things will work out for the remaining members.

Chiodos is one of the most creative bands i've ever heard. Craig was the icing on the cake. To me though, stage presence and interaction with your band and energy and happiness is just as important as your talent and sound and if the band isn't happy together then i'd rather see them lose someone or break up rather than continue to do something they're not happy doing just to sell records. I'll definitely check out the next new music the band puts out but they're gonna have to find one hell of a singer to keep me interested.
I am and will remain a Chiodos fan with or without Craig. ONE person doesn't make a band, sure he had an amazing voice but he was beginning to sell out. Plus he was getting way too selfish with his solo career and all his other so-called side projects. He put himself before the band so he deserved what he got. I'm sure they'll pull through and I'm definitely looking forward to their new album. I'm sticking with Chiodos all the way because I'm a fan of their music and not Craig.
Craig Owens is NOT chiodos.I'm a huge fan of him, but there's more than just 1 member of chiodos. It'll be hard to fill his spot but you have to give them a chance. They're dealing with this pretty well, like writing a new record seeing they don't have a vocalist or a drummer. I wish people would give them a break cause Craig was spending too much time on his solo career and side projects and he was going to write a book 2. They promise we wont be disappointed with the next album so we just gotta wait and see. Chiodos needs Craig but Craig does not need Chiodos. He really was the band IMO. Sure he had a bunch of other things going on but Chiodos was his band. He loved Chiodos. They're going to crash and burn now, and personally I think they deserve it. I saw him live last weekend in NYC and he was SO happy... these new videos are just heartbreaking, he says he doesn't know if he'll play music again... coming from him, even if it's not serious, is a huge thing. :( They're not going to be able to replace him or the countless fans they've lost from this, and quite frankly, I think thats what they deserve.

I agree with mewzik. Chiodos will put out a new record after months of being holed up in a studio somewhere, with their new vocalist, whoever it may be, and no one will buy it. If anything, I think a few songs off of it would be downloaded and pushed aside after hearing that the passion and amazing lyricism that was once Chiodos, is gone. They obviously had their reasons. But I still think that Craig brought most of what Chiodos was to the table. If you've seen them live, you know how much passion Craigery evokes into the music. And now that that's gone, what's left? What is Chiodos gonna use now to prove that they are going to survive? They need Craig. That's all there is to it.
I just read JoeyOath's comment, and that couldn't ring more true. It was obviously something that WASN'T legitimate or Chiodos is just too afraid that the fans will hate them for whatever the reason was that Craig was forced to leave. And the FFTL thing, that is an EXCELLENT point. Just as Sonny was FFTL, Craigery is Chiodos. And that is what everyone will continue to think of when Chiodos comes to mind. That is really cliche, but you seriously cannot get closer to the truth with that one. Great going, guys.

first of all i wish craigy the best of luck. he's my favy for years and his voice to many others is the instant smile on our faces. He may have had a problem with drugs and all but if they really did care about him, they def woulda helped him through instead of telling him to gtfo. if that really is the case, then that just changed my whole perspective on the guys. If they want to call it quits and retire the name "chiodos", then they should do it all together at once instead of one-by-one. what happened to from first to last will most likely happen to chiodos. unfortunately everyone is correct, craig was chiodos. but what makes it difficult to replace craig is not aura but its his singing capability. that dude could sing and unless there is someone out there that has remained under a rock with those type of vocal chords, i unfortunately don't see the continue success that chiodos was garnering.

I see it being just like what happened to Escape the Fate. Sure, Craig(Of ETF) is a good singer and all, but he doesn't fit ETF like Ronnie did. I see this turning out like that. Craig Owens has such a unique voice, and to try to replace it would just not work. I think they are going to fall apart without him. Chiodos will not be Chiodos without Craig. I think Craig will do great on his own, however, because of the uniqueness of his voice. I'm not saying i don't wish Chiodos luck, but i already am pretty sure of the outcome. It is really upsetting, but life will go on.
To have the excuse of having sides projects to kick you're main reason for success out of the band I think is fairly contridicting in chiodos' case... did we forget that brad bell was in cinematic sunrise? And matt goddard in isles and glaciers... and what about jason and his own little side group with king? Doesn't make much since huh. And yes, chiodos dug their own grave by letting go of craig and they will lie in it sooner than later.
OK...first of all....I'm tired of hearing "Craig WAS Chiodos".....Craig was a big part of Chiodos....but Craig wasn't Chiodos.....Chiodos won't be the same without him....but he wasn't the whole band. For anyone to say that Craig was kicked for side projects is absolutely ridiculous. First of all....Brad was in CinSun, Matt was in Isles and Glaciers, Jason has his own project going on...King....the entire band was doing that....and the reason Craig was doing all these projects was so he wouldn't overpower the writing process for the new Chiodos album, so anyone saying that is wrong. Craig doesn't have an ego. If you've ever met him....which I doubt you have...you'd know he doesnt.
I'm also sick of hearing Craig was Chiodos, just because he was their lead singer. Chiodos was also a great band with other members that played a role in making that band so great. Plus unlike alot of other bands today they where not afraid to make music and use other instruments than the norm, such as Violin, Piano, & various other string instruments. Either way I'll probably still like Chiodos whether Craig is a part of it or not. They'll probably just replace him with someone better, and I'll probably like them more. or there vocals will just suck..
Let's face it, both Chiodos and Craig are screwed now. Craig relies on the other members of Chiodos to make good music, because honestly, his side projects are very lacking musically. But Craig is a defining aspect of Chiodos. No one can match his vocals, lyrics, or stage presence because those aspects are so unique. After the first album from Chiodos without Craig and Craig's first album without Chiodos, no one will remember them because both will probably be shitty. TRUTH!
i am so bummmed to see this. craig just brought something so unique to the band, and thats why chiodos stood out. i do feel bad for the rath thats gonna come down the rest of the guys in the band who are gonna get crap for here on out. i do believe that chiodos as we know it is, well... over. or its gonna take something EPIC in that next album to convince people that they didnt make the biggest mistakes of there career. Craig is just well CRAIG FREAKIN OWENS. and those shoes just cant be filled.
i think chiodos and craig owens will both end up like saosin and anthony green: chiodos is gunna get a better vocalist and get a whole lot better and owens is gunna get in a new band and make them alot better. i mean they were great together, like when saosin had green, but honestly both saoisn and green are alot better off now then before. so i cant wait to see how much better chiodos is gunna get and see how owens' career is gunna take off
i honestly dont think chiodos will ever get anybetter and find a new vocalist that will even come close to comparing with craig. i really hate to say this but i really doubt chiodos will be the item they were while craig was on board. without him, they're still chiodos, but just not the chiodos with the unique vocals and clean cut percussion.
Obviously,this is a sink or swim situation.Honestly i think they'll be fine yes it will be super wierd and the new dude will have some of the biggest shoes to fill for the scene.But on the other hand,Its not like craig isnt gonna stop what hes doing he has like 3 other projects going at once (which maybe could have been one of the reasons he got kicked out idk)Im just anxious to hear the new guy and the details about the whole shabang
Lets be real here. Yes, chiodos hasvlots of talent there but Craig is the voice that made them who they are. I think with the removal of Craig there should be a removal of the name Chiodos.
i think chiodos will pull a "from first to last" they'll try to reinvent themselves with a new frontman, realize no one likes them anymore, and fall into obscurity.
I think the same thing is going to happen with them as it did with Saosin. After Anthony Green left Saosin, they got a singer that sounded like every other alternative rock band out there these days. I believe the only difference with this is that the group will probably have to start a brand new fan base, and imagine how hard that will be since they got so well known and then all of a sudden, they're not really Chiodos anymore. Probably the most effective thing to do is to change their name and start something completely new altogether. That's what some of my favorite bands from Japan do when something like happens with them and they become very successful. Chiodos is basicly no more.
Craig was definitely Chiodos. & plus, with a voice like his, they won't be able to find anyone to fill his shoes. He'll continue to be successful while everyone else gets upset because they let such a great musician go.
