The List On AP: AP'S Top Songs Of 2008

Tim Karan on 12/26/08 @ 4:30 AM

The average AP editor hears on average 312,359 songs per year. So when we're asked to come up with our top songs, it typically leads to a week's worth of heated discussion and at least four fistfights. But choosing our top songs of 2008 wasn't nearly as painful as all that. And here they are: --Tim Karan

Not sure if I necessarily agree with Norma Jean, but all of those are amazingly accuarate. Love those pictures of Anthony Green and All Time Low...you guys always do an ace job of getting the sickest pictures of bands that I've never seen before.

I agree with these people. I love the diversity of your amazing. Best mag ever. Love this list. I agree. Jack's mannequin so deserved to be on here. <3

Am I missing something, because I only saw 9 songs...

Why was the Resolution stated as the opener for The Glass Passenger? It was the lead single, the album opens with Crashin'... Other than that, it was a decent list..

great list - really diverse, every other list i've seen is all obscure indie bands; it was a really good year for the tooth&nail/solid state label - frankly i don't care if it's a christian label (and i'm not a religiou person) but they have some of the most talented bands out there - and props to family force 5, i absolutely love them, great band with really fun music

I pretty much agree with the list (excluding All Time Low and norma jean)but where the FUCK are chiodos? Werent Lexington and a letter from janelle like the most Bomb.com songs of the year? Hello!

not bad, i cant say i agree on much of the songs. Yes, i love All Time Low's version of Umbrella better then Rihanna herself, (not to mention, i'd rather watch Alex Gaskarth dance then her haha) but i don't think its a song of the year. (i love ATL dearly though.) however, jacks mannequin i definitly agree with. i dont know, maybe i dont listen to enough diversity in music to agree on this list in a whole.

surekha08
agree with most of those but all time low's version of umbrella? Its better then Rihanna's but not worthy to be a top song of 2008....

cindyyyislyf3
not bad. underoath and anthony green are the besttt. :]] but yeauh, chiodos did rock ass this yearrr. :]

RihlMeUp17
jacks mannequin, all time low, and death cab definitley kicked ass. but theyre are better songs than The Resolution that Andy did this year. and yeah, Chiodos definitley deserved a spot. oh well, maybe next year

i don't know. not the biggest fan of this list. don't get me wrong, i love these bands, but giving some of these songs a Song of the Year credit seems wrong to me. you did good with The Matches, Underoath, Norma Jean, and Anthony Green. even though thats not my favorite Norma Jean song. But giving Umbrella, She's A Lady and Radiator a top spot, they don't deserve it. again, not saying they are bad bands, but those were by no means some of the best songs of the year. their most popular, possibly, most original, not so much. i just feel like some other songs could have benefited from being one of the top 10 then those, but not a bad list.

Zilchh
well, i love these songs....but definitely DO NOT agree with the list i give you a 2 out of ten for effort. chiodos should definitely be on here.

I would have to disagree with more then half of that list, yeah all these indie bands are good, but i'm sick of all the bubble gum popular craptastic music coming out these days, and worse, all of my favorite bands coming out with music that makes me want to kill myself? i'm sorry, but Family Force 5's old sound was better, same for Norma Jean..But that God, Bring Me The Horizon didn't make the list, i would have lost all of my respect for AP.

rachel_soho
there are a couple good bands on here, but really? forever the sickest kids and all time low make me want to vomit.

Catie_x
Ugh. Forever the Sickest Kids got on here and not Panic? Disgraceful. Other than that, it was pretty good, though I wouldn't say Jack's Mannequin's best song was the one they chose...And though I <3 ATL, a better song could've been chosen than their cover. But at least they got it right with Death Cab! :D

I love AP<3333. UnderOath.FTSK.FF5.Norma Jean.ATL.Anthony Green. Thats just amazing. I dot think UnderOath should've been higher up though. :/
