Web Exclusive: Annuals/Manchester Orchestra Tour Diary (part two)

One of the hottest tour pairings this fall is the Annuals/Manchester Orchestra co-headlining trek, and we're so excited about it that we asked Annuals to keep a diary of the experience. Part two is below; you can read part one here. Enjoy! Nov 8, 2007 Since we last spoke, we Annuals have traveled north through Vermont into Quebec, westward into Ontario, back south into Michigan and Illinois, and finally westward again through Wisconsin and Minnesota. Our scenic journey through Vermont in the heart of its autumn marked the 46th state visited by us proud North Carolinians (I don't know about our tour manager Jersey Jay). The remaining four are New Hampshire, Maine, Alaska, and Hawaii. I wonder when we're going to be invited to those fine states! ![]() ![]() At the present, we have begun the treacherous three-day-shoved-into-two expedition to the West Coast amid premonitions of unfavorable weather conditions. None of us will forget last year's Toronto to Seattle drive during which our van broke down right before being trapped in a blizzard in North Dakota. But we have not lost site of the end of the tunnel--driving through the fairy tale landscape of the West Coast (the drive out there isn't too shabby either). Having lived my whole life on the East Coast, I always look forward to the time we have out west. The same seems to be the consensus from the rest of the band as well. And it's not to say that we don't love where we live... the landscape out west is just so much more dramatic, reminiscent of millions of years of slow-motion catastrophe. ![]() ![]() Alright, so let me tell you about some show highlights. Manchester Orchestra, the Never and ourselves have been playing on each others' songs for the past week and it's starting to sound really good. I mean, it was fun from the beginning, but now we're really starting to get tight with it. Much to our dismay, however, the Never had to quit us last night to make way for the second half of the tour with the New Frontiers (whom we're excited to meet). We're going to miss the Never a lot. We love those guys. ![]() ![]() This tour has been such a blast so far and we're anticipating it to remain that way up until the end. Thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the shows! Your continuing support is what keeps us going. All our love, Kenny and Annuals You can see the remaining dates of the Manchester Orchestra/Annuals tour here. |
