THE STORY SO FAR: Brothers Adam (vocals, guitar) and Ian Prince (drums) initially tried to avoid one another when it came to musical projects. Growing up in a musically inclined family in the Minneapolis suburbs, they eventually settled into different bands. But in 2005, they dropped their other projects and began playing as a duo before recruiting John McEwen (bass) and Damon Kalar (guitar, keyboards). "My brother and I have a speedy, telepathic songwriting thing," says Ian. "We've been playing together forever, so we're pretty fortunate that way."
WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW 'EM: They've taken their sludgy, math-heavy indie to stages alongside Cursive, Criteria and Magnetic Morning, and they're now armed with a J. Robbins-produced full-length, Lunar Co. "At heart, we're a 'capital-R' rock band trying on some shiny pop refinement, subtle soul roots and grooves, and geeky record-store passion," says Prince. "At times propulsive and anthemic, we're hoping to preserve the tension and release of our favorite '90s bands."
